Overview

• In partnership with Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) Department of Parasitology, Vestergaard operates a vector control research facility with a focus on the research and development of vector control tools such as long lasting insecticidal nets
• The Chief Research Assistant will be responsible for providing oversight to all research activities to ensure that efficient day-to-day operations of the labs and mosquito insectary

Key Activities & Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership to the research team and ensure effective operations of the mosquito insectary laboratories
• Manage the team of research assistants to plan lab testing and ensure sufficient numbers of susceptible and resistant mosquitoes are available to meet project needs
• Foster and maintain collaborations with NMIMR and other external stakeholder / institutions working in malaria and vector control
• Develop and review standards operating procedures (SOPs) with the team of research assistants
• Ensure a high standards of cleanliness is maintained in the labs and all practices comply with health and safety directives

Qualification Required & Experience

• MSc or PhD Degree in Entomology, Biology, Zoology, Public Health or related discipline, minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of experience and education

• Excellent organizational skills with a meticulous attention to detail
• Motivated, willing to learn and able to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural team
• Good communication skills to interact effectively in a team environment with technical colleagues and external collaborators
• Ability to problem solve and perform comfortably in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• English essential, French desirable
• Willingness to work flexible hours including occasional public holidays
