Job Vacancy For The Control Room Operator – Production At MODEC Ghana Limited (Accra and Takoradi)



MODEC Ghana Limited is a limited liability company, incorporated under the laws of the Republic of Ghana. Our core business is to provide operations and maintenance support to oil field companies. MODEC is seeking applications from enthusiastic, creative and fully suitably qualified Ghanaians for appointment into challenging, stimulating and exerting opportunities in the oil and gas industry.

The Control Room Operator will be responsible formonrtonng and controlling the Yokogawa Centum VP process systems, ESD system and Fire / Gas systems. Be experienced in oil process systems, gas compression / export systems and water injection systems for the FPSO

To operate, control and monitor plant and equipment associated wrth gas and oil production and support systems in a safe and efficient manner as per statutory company practices and procedures.

Main Duties:

•   Perform CCR production and process operations duties and tasks as required and defined by CCR Production Supervisor / Production Supervisors or Production Supt'.
•   Monitors and controls the remote operation of subsea wells and production systems, including performing emergency corrective action as required.
•   Act as responsible person or area authority within PTW system for CCR concerns,
•   Be aware of any maintenance or engineering activity in area and liaise with appropriate personnel to ensure work is carried out in a safe and timely manner
•   Manage, co-ordinate and operate the CCR safely and in accordance with company policy, procedures and standing instructions.
•   Solving CCR operational problems fully utilising the planned maintenance system.
•   Participation in risk assessments when appropriate.
•   Control and monitoring of hydrocarbon process plant and utility systems.
•   Initiating appropriate action in the event of process and utility system alarms and trips.
•   Initiating unit train and emergency shutdown of process and utility systems during abnormal operation, or as a result of an emergency situation on the installation;
•   CCR Monitoring and recording of key parameters for hydrocarbon process plant and utility systems,

Technical Integrity:

•   Operate and carry out first line maintenance activities as directed by relevant Supervisor on the process and utilities plant in a safe and efficient manner being aware of cost effective utilisation of oil production and utilities system in compliance with statutory requirements.
•   Maintain complete and accurate records within the Maintenance Management System.
•   Ensure production checklists are adhered to.
•   Adhere to all legislative, environmental and company standards and procedures.

Innovations/Knowledge Transfer:

•   Identify and propose ideas and solutions that will increase efficiency and cut cost or time without loss of integrity and present idea(s) to relevant management
•   Support team performance by sharing knowledge and best practices.

Team Working:

•   Adopt flexible working attitude to provide support across departments to ensure team success.
•   Conduct work group / toolbox briefings.
•   Create, maintain & enhance effective working relations and identify & minimise interpersonal conflict
•   Maintain effective communication with Supervisors and other work groups.

Communications/Reporting:

•   To report any defect or inspection report to relevant Production Supervisor in a clear and concise manner and record all relevant information in logs as required.
•   Ensure a safe and comprehensive handover is given at shift or crew change wrth all pertinent operational and maintenance information to relevant personnel.
•   Provide required input to vessel meetings, planning, initiatives etc.

Health and Safety Responsibilities:

•   Ensure all work is conducted in full compliance with the Safety Management System, including vessel safety regulations and positively support all safety initiatives and improvements
•   Proactively contribute to delivery against HSE plans and improvement objectives.
•   Be aware of physical condition of plant & equipment to ensure technical integrity is maintained; raise issues and concerns identified.

Emergency Response Tasks:

•   Carry out CCR emergency response duties.
•   Monitor and respond effectively to situation changes as directed.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   C&G/ONC/HNC or equivalent process related experience (E)
•   NVQ3 Processing Operations: Hydrocarbons OR similar (E)
•   Trade / operations trained background (D)

Specific Training / Specialist Skills:

•   PTW area authority & co-ordination (work packs, leak register etc.) (D)
•   PTW responsible person / issuing authority (D)
•   Relief Production CCR supervisor (D)

Experience:

•   At least 5 years CCR control room operator offshore experience (E)
•   Related subsea wells, oil and gas operations ESD / F&G experience is required (E)
•   Yokogawa Centum VP control systems (E)
•   FPSO experience (D)
•   Emergency response duties / fire team trained (E)
•   Computer proficient with excellent interpersonal, organisational and communication skills (E)

Personal Skills:

•   Communication skills verbal and written (E)
•   Good team working skills (E)
