Job Vacancy For Deputy Director – General (DDG)



National Media Commission is looking for a suitably qualified, goal-oriented and results-driven person with exceptional qualities for appointment to the position of: Deputy Director - General (DDG), Ghana Broadcasting Corporation

Object of the Position

• To support the Director-General to provide executive leadership and strategic direction that will enable the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation to deliver innovative services to the public.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist the Director-General to implement the corporations's policies, bye-laws and other instruments and objectives in the day-to-day operations of the corporation
• Be responsible for the news and current affairs division
• Assist the Director General to liaise with Heads of Divisions (Engineering, sound and Television, programme etc) to develop a strategic direction for the corporation
• Have primary responsibility for all the regional station
• Assist the Director General to develop and maintain an organisational culture that will foster co-operation, commitment, efficiency, accountability, productivity and healthy labour relations
• Chair selection boards for contract appointments above a specific level, as stated by the Board
• Be responsible for producing annual reports and other corporate documents
• Act in the adsence of the Director-General and
• Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Director-General and the Board

Qualification Required & Experience

• A minimum of a Master's Degree in any discipline from a recognised institution, with not less than 12 years post-qualification relevant work experience, 5 years of which must be in a senior management position
• A Master's Degree in communication/media related field will be an advantage
• The successful candidate should be able to serve a term of 4 years before he/she attains the compulosry retirement age 60 years

Competencies and Skills

• Industry knowledge in the mass media, especially in broadcasting (with an appreciable understanding of public service broadcasting)
• Familiarity with the constitution (1992), National Media Commission Act, the Financial Administration Act, the Public Procurement Act, the internal audit agency act, the labour act abd any other relevant laws
• Strong leadership, managerial, marketing, supervisory, analytical, creativity and decision making skills
• Considerable appreciation of work in the public sector and ability to liaise effectively with relevant MDAs? and
• A wide-range of relevant computer skills that are critical to the work of a modern-day executive
