Job Vacancy For Electrical Technical Assistant At MODEC Ghana Limited (Accra and Takoradi)



Duties and Responsibilities:

•   Assist Electrical Engineer  in  installation  and maintenance of electrical systems.
•   Provide administrative assistance to Electrical Engineer when needed
•   Identify action items and work with the engineering team close to them
•   Work with the engineering team to plan, coordinate and execute electrical projects
•   Review   project  specifications  and   identify  technical constraints and requirements.
•   Prepare technical design documents based on project specifications.
•   Identify  system   integration   and   design   issues  and provide appropriate resolutions.
•   Monitor and report project status to management on regular basis.
•   Schedule project review meetings to discuss about any issues and recommendations,
•   Supervise     project    activities     to     ensure     timely completion.
•   Ensure project deliverables meet quality standards and customer specifications.
•   Work   with   engineering   head   to   suggest   system updates and enhancements to meet client demands.
•   Provide  technical   guidance  to   project  team   when needed.
•   Schedule   routine   maintenance   and   inspection   of electrical systems.
•   Develop preventive maintenance programs for electrical systems.
•   Ensure that system breakdowns,failures and repairs are addressed promptly.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A BEng or BSc Honours Degree in Electrical or
•   Electrical & Electronic Engineering from a recognized institute (E)
•   A Post-Graduate Certificate or Diploma, or MEng/MSc Degree in Electrical or Electrical & Electronic Engineering from a recognized institute (D)
•   A member of an electrical engineering-related professional body (such as IET/IEEE) (D)

Experience:

•   Experience in a similar role within multi-discipline engineering team; technician background also acceptable (E)
•   In-depth fundamental knowledge of HV/IV generation, transformation, distribution equipment and machines
•   Strong   knowledge  of UPS,   rectifier/charger,   inverter, and battery systems (E)
•   Thorough understanding of maintenance philosophies & methodologies, and industry best practices (E)
•   Strong knowledge of Hazardous Area Electrical Equipment and associated (D)
•   Knowledge of International electrical codes & practices

E) = Essential requirement that must be met before a candidate is appointed
D) = Desirable requirement. Candidate may be appointed, with discretion, without full achievement of criterion but the indicated competence should be developed.

Team Working:

•   Adopt flexible working attitude to provide support across departments to ensure team success.
•   Conduct work group / toolbox briefings.
•   Create, maintain & enhance effective working relations and identify & minimize interpersonal conflict.
•   Maintain effective communication with Supervisors and other work groups.

Communications/Reporting:

•   To report any defect or inspection report to relevant Production Supervisor in a clear and concise manner and record all relevant information in logs as required.
•   Ensure a safe and comprehensive handover is given at shift or crew change with all pertinent operational and maintenance information to relevant personnel.
•   Provide required input to vessel meetings, planning, initiatives etc.

Health and Safety Responsibilities:

•   Ensure all work is conducted in full compliance with the Safety Management System, including vessel safety regulations and positively support all safety initiatives and improvements
•   Proactively contribute to delivery against HSE plans and improvement objectives.
•   Be aware of physical condition of plant & equipment to ensure technical integrity is maintained; raise issues and concerns identified.
