Job Vacancy For Drill and Blast Engineer At Keegan Resources Ghana Ltd



Keegan Resources Ghana Ltd. (“KRGL”) is a fully-owned subsidiary of Asanko Gold Inc., a company which is building the Asanko Gold Mine, Ghana’s next gold mine. The vision of Asanko is to become a mid -tier gold mining company that maximizes value for all stakeholders.

Position: Drill and Blast Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

•   Implement and maintain safety, health and environmental policies and procedures, and ensure to maintain a healthy working environment;
•   Ensure that drilling areas are available at all times to minimize standby hours;
•   Liaise with mining contractor to schedule drill rigs to work safely and productively;
•   Liaise with mining contractor to schedule blast and blast notification;
•   Monitor and ensure that drill and blast activities are executed according to design;
•   Ensure that blasting is conducted in a productive and environmentally friendly manner to meet EPA standards;
•   Supervise drilling contractors and explosive suppliers to operate efficiently;
•   Work with mining contractor to design drill and blast patterns according to mining plans;
•   Compile daily drill and blast statistical data;
•   Prepare end of month explosive consumption reports;
•   Prepare end of month drill and blast reports;
•   Liaise with African Explosive Limited in all blasting related issues;
•   Supervise the use of explosives consumption level by contractor;
•   Provide consultancy and advice on drilling blasting;
•   Manage monthly budgets and keeping detailed records;

Qualification Required & Experience

•   BSc. in Mining Engineering with at least three (3) years experience in a mining company;
•   Must have a Blasting certificate of competency and Mine Captain Certificate;
•   A proven knowledge and experience in open pit drill and blast operations;
•   A sound knowledge in drill and blast software – shotplus and MS Office;
•   Excellent technical report writing and documentation skills;
•   Good written and verbal communication skills;
•   Flexible to work extended hours to accomplish job requirements;
•   Must be able to work with minimum supervision;
•   Must possess a valid Ghanaian drivers’ license.
