Job Vacancy For Gender Equality Coordinator At Plan Ghana (Ho, Volta Region)



Job Purpose

•   To co-ordinate, facilitate and provide technical support for maintreaming gender equality considerations in the overall project in alignment with the project Gender Equality Strategy and to provide technical support to the project team, local partners and other stakeholders in the implementation and management of the strengthening Health Outcomes for Women and children (SHOW) project.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities

•   Assists in the integration of Gender Equality (GE) in the design, management and monitoring of the SHOW project
•   Assist the project Gender Equality Specialist in developing all project audience specific training's, guidelines and other collateral for the effective mainstreaming of GE in activities
•   Conducts community visits to monitor SHOW project activities in the project districts to ensure quality supervision and monitoring, leading to improvement in programme delivery and submits reports of such visits
•   Supports the review of all SHOW project documents and ensures that gender considerations are well integrated capacity building of partners, GHS, NGOs, CHVS, Mother support groups, VSL Group, Daddies Clubs, religious and traditional leaders etc on gender and power related dynamics of households, families and communities to ensure quality and timely delivery of the project activities relating to the empowerment of women and girls, male engagement snd gender-responsive MNCH service delivery

Qualification Required & Experience

•   First degree in Social Sciences, background in Gender Studies or a related field will be an asset
•   At least 3 years experience in a similar position in an international organisation similar to Plan International
•   Demonstrable experience in advocacy, especially around gender related issues
•   A thorough understanding of the convention of the rights of the child, convention for the Elimination of all forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and other human rights instruments
•   A thorough understanding of the various tools and techniques for mainstreaming gender in a project cycles including gender analysis, programming, monitoring and evaluation
