Job Purpose:
To provide  Graphic Design and Creative Services

Duties & Responsibilities:

•   Upon consultation with UNICEF, the graphic designer will provide a detailed work plan for each assignment comprising the estimated time frame, costing and detailed summary of the work to be undertaken with specific objectives, target audience, material and media to be used together with any other feature or requirement which will impact on the final design and cost of the work entailed.
•   Conceptualisation, creation/design process: The graphic designer shall conceptualise and produce layouts, designs etc. and provide UNICEF with three (3) alternative proposals (concepts and designs) for each item commissioned. If all 3 proposals are to the dissatisfaction of UNICEF, then the graphic designer will be required to produce alternate proposals accordingly, and with no additional cost to UNICEF.
•   The graphic designer must provide an itemised quote containing a detailed description of the specifications and inputs e.g.., photographs, slides, illustrations etc. Detailed specifications of proposed stages of printing processes including number of colors and DVDs and CDs should also be provided to UNICEF. This quote will be based on the brief and materials provided by UNICEF.
•   The graphic designer shall provide the following items when working on the publication /design or artwork process, These items shall not be quoted  for and  are  included  the  services provided by the graphic designer to UNICEF:
•   a. Print ready PDF files of the final products in addition to final camera ready artworks each of the files to be saved on 2 CDs.
•   b. High resolution, digital, colour correct proofs, showing all the photographs in the publication/printed materials (preferably A3 size).
•   c. A complete colour laser dummy comprising the exact size and specification of the publication/printed _ material. The dummy will consist of the pages glued together back to back in sequence and manually bound, resembling the final printed product
•   The graphic designer shall follow the UNICEF branding manual and rules related to the new branding requirements for the UNICEF logo design.
•   The graphic designer shall supervise the UNICEF design and print production at the various printing establishments identified by UNICEF.
•   The following scope of work can be adapted for specific assignments based on requirements with sufficient justification.
•   Concept, design and artworks: Each of these item categories will require further specifications in quotations for varying, sizes, page numbers, type of colours etc.
•   Books, reports and booklets
•   Infographics or factographs
•   Flyers, brochures and posters
•   Flip charts, flash cards, calendars: wall and desk type
•   Invitation cards
•   Illustrations, press ad campaigns and    public service announcements
•   Folders
•   Stickers, badges and bookmarks
•   Banners
•   Billboards
•   Wall paintings
•   Vehicle branding
•   Street pole sign
•   Logos and mnemonic
•   Copyrighting and related works
•   Web graphics and design costs for data based driven websites
•   T-shirts
•   Photography (campaign related)
•   DVD and CD duplication

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A first degree or equivalent.
•   At least five years of experience in graphic design and creative services.
•   Expert knowledge in graphic design and graphic design software, including but not limited to: Adobe Photoshop. Illustrator, Indersign. After effect. Final Cut Pro, Flash, Flex Builder, and the rest of the Adobe Creative Suite.
•   Advanced knowledge in concept and creation of specific graphic design assets. including Infographics / factographs {for print and digital), data visualisation, animation, and interactive presentations
•   Strong comprehension of theory related to human interaction with websites. information architecture, usability, accessibility. UX and interactive design is a plus.
•   Strong comprehension of work, standards and practices of UN and other International Government/Humanitarian Organisations.
•   Provides advice on the best use of technologies with regard _to design and interactive usability is a plus.
•   Self-motivated .and results-oriented.
•   Proven ability to deliver under tight deadlines.
•   Possesses strong organisational and detail-oriented skills.
•   International professional experience is an asset.
•   Understanding of UNICEF's work is a plus.
•   Brings evidence of success in preparing successful branding products and marketing materials.
