A leading Life Insurance company is seeking to employ an information and communications Technologist (ICT) to fill the position of:- Head of Information Technology Systems (ITS)

The Head of ISD will report to the Managing Director and the Board's Sub-Technical Committee.

Job Roles

•   Manages projects involving feasibility studies, systems analysts, design, development and implementation of new, moderately complex, and or, participates as a member of a development team with responsibility for major components of more systems, Provides specialised advice to users, analysing users requirements and translating these into new applications
•   Determines application systems integration and linkages issues,
•   Maintains, operates, upgrade or enhances existing user systems (or coordinates the enhancement thereof)
•   Troubleshoots and provides continuring user support, to include resolving difficult problems, advising on the use of new techniques, monitoring transactions to measure performance and continued effectiveness of assigned systems, etc
•   Develop and maintain computer programs that require integrations of many interrelated systems and program elements, ensures appropriate data security and access controls considering both local and wide area issues
•   Organise and perform unit and integrated testing, desiging and utilizing test bases, assists users in acceptance testing
•   Develops training materials, operating and user manuals, Trains staff in assigned systems
•   Researches, analyses and evaluates new technologies and makes recommendations for their deployment
•   Participates in writing reports and papers on systems-related topics, system requirement, information strategy, etc.
•   Handles all aspects of contract administration including establishment of service level agreements with vendors and chargeback policy for users
•   Facilitates communications betweeen application developers and clients for good client relations and product development
•   Provides guidance to and many supervise new/junior staff, consultants etc, other wise contributes to the development and use of information systems

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Knowledge of systems administration operating systems (MS Windows, Linux etc)
•   Practical knowledge of network topologies (LAN, WAN, VPN) routers, switches, modems
•   working knowledge of data structures and database administration, database servers (Microsoft SQL Server, MysQL etc.)
•   Relevant training / certification and adequate experience of life insurance business and operations will be an advantage
•   Applicants must have a good first degree in the related field with a minimum of five (5) years post qualification experience in planning, designing, development and implementation of computer information systems.
•   However, a masters degree in that field will be an advantage
