Job Vacancy For Planning Engineer At Ministry of Energy and Petroleum (Tamale)



The Government of the Republic of Ghana has received  a grant funding support trom the Government of Switzerland, represented by the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) and the International Development Association (IDA) of the World Bank toward the cost of the Ghana Energy Development and Access Project (GEDAP), and it intends to apply part of the funds to payments under the contracts for the Recruitment of Project Staff for NEDCO Project Implementation Unit

•   Contract Duration: Three (3) years

Responsibilities:

•   The Planning Engineer (Specialist) will be responsible for all planning and project development functions of NEDCo's PIU as well as supervision of the planning section staff therein.
•   The Planning Engineer will report to the Project Manager and will support NEDCo to ensure the NEDCo distribution network, system and projects planning requirements are developed, implemented and managed efficiently and effectively.
•   The Planning Engineer will prepared annual work plans, monthly and quarterly progress reports for approval by the Project Director as well as annual reports on assignment outputs and end-of-assignment report that is to be signed off by the Project Director.
•   The Planning Engineer will also establish close and cooperative working relationships with the heads of other sections of the PIU and NEDCo's Director, Engineering Services who is the Project Director for all the NEDCo projects.
•   Undertake any other responsibility that will ensure smooth and effective implementation of NEDCO's projects.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Membership of the Ghana Institution of Engineers (GhlE)
•   BSc Electrical Engineering Degree with at least 10 years proven experience in electrical engineering planning of distribution networks and substations
•   Masters degree in Electrical Engineering will be an advantage
•   Good knowledge of concepts, principles and approaches to power distribution system planning and modeling.
•   Good knowledge and extensive experience in the use of software for distribution system planning
•   Good Knowledge and extensive experience in the use of NEPLAN software for distribution system planning wilt be an advantage
•   Knowledge and experience in power distribution system design, construction and procurement will also be an advantage
•   Knowledge, skills and experience in developing project concepts and preparing Initial Project Briefs (IPBs) and Project Concept Notes) (PCNs) for project funds sourcing
•   Computer Literate
