Job Vacancy For System Administrator At Millennium Development Authority (MiDA)



The Government of Ghana was declared eligible for a poverty reduction grant from the Millennium Challenge Corporation ("MCC"), a United States Government Agency. In connection therewith, the Government submitted Concept Papers to MCC, and after a successful outcome of due diligence, and the availability of funds, has resulted in a Compact between the Government and MCC pursuant to which MCC would provide a five-year, multimiHion dollar poverty reduction grant to the Government of Ghana (a "Compact"). The Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) will be responsible for the management of the implementation of the Compact. Subject to the terms and conditions of the Compact, related agreements, and the availability of funds, the Government intends to use a portion of the funds provided through the Compact to procure professional personnel in MiDA to assist the Government with the management and implementation of the Compact programme in a transparent, timely, effective, efficient, results-oriented and fiscally sound manner.

Job Description

The Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) is therefore seeking to engage qualified persons for the following staff position in the MiDA, on a fixed term contract of five years, renewable yearly. Unless otherwise stated, all posts are based in Accra.

Roles and Responsibilities:

•   Design, develop and deploy required IT systems and provide technical support for a range of IT technologies to include security systems, network infrastructure, storage, and backup and recovery.
•   Implement and support business applications and backup and recovery systems across the MiDA network.
•   Plan, coordinate, test, install, build, configure, and deploy Windows servers in both the physical and virtual environment.
•   Monitor the network and systems to collect baseline metrics and identify and resolve problems with the efficient operation of systems and networks.
•   Provide system documentation and change management planning and support: Create migration, deployment, implementation and test plans, installation/configuration guides, technical specifications, and technical diagrams as needed.
•   Communicate regularly to MiDA regarding IT project activities and status.
•   Keep Data Centre infrastructure and IT equipment in operating condition consistent with OEM requirements and perform corrective, adaptive, and preventative maintenance tasks as needed and/or scheduled.
•   Apply security and functional patches and upgrades to software and hardware.
•   Technical areas of responsibility include: data centre environmental (power, cooling, etc.), firewalls, servers, storage, backup & recovery, anti-virus, and and network infrastructure.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Bachelor's degree with 5 years recent Network Management tools integration and design experience. Lower academic qualification with additional training and experience may be acceptable in lieu of a degree.
•   Experience as a technical Lead and in building and managing servers, configuring firewalls and network infrastructure, backing up and recovering data and databases, data centre / server room management, monitoring network and systems, leading system integration projects, working with staff to capture/document requirements
•   Experience with Data storage (Nimble) and database management (MS SQL Server), Backup system management (Acronis), System imaging (Acronis), Enterprise Anti-Virus (Kaspersky), Wireless Network Management (Ruckus), DNS, Wide Area and Internet/ISP Service Management (Cisco), LAN/WAN networking, Server virtualisation (VMware) and domain management (Windows Server, GPOs and User Account Management), considered a plus
•   Understanding of network traffic from a protocol/packet perspective.
•   Strong writing skills
