Catholic Relief Service (CRS) is a faith-based international development organization. CRS Ghana was established in 1958, a year after Ghana gained independence. In Ghana, CRS works with the nation’s people to tackle poverty on several fronts including improving health, nutrition, and care and support for people living with HIV; increasing access to water and sanitation; promoting agriculture to enhance food security; and increasing financial assets through Savings and Internal Lending Communities.

Job Summary

Catholic Relief Services (CRS) has been working in Ghana since 1958 in Health, Agriculture, Peace Building, Water and Sanitation, Microfinance and Education programs.  Together with other strategic partners, Catholic Relief Services (CRS) seeks a Senior Technical Advisor- Social Marketing for a 5-year Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) program being developed. The STA-Communication will lead the in-country management and implementation components of a program aimed at improving desired behaviour change around WASH in schools, health facilities and at the community level.

The Senior Advisor – Social Marketing will be responsible for the development of evidence based communication strategies to address WASH interventions including Behaviour Change Communications BCC) as well as Community-Led Total Sanitation (CLTS).  The individual will conduct formative research to identify the WASH needs of the target districts and audience, manage all field CLTS approaches to community pre-triggering, triggering, assessments and declaration of Open Defecation Free (ODF) communities.

Key Job Responsibilities:

•   Coordinate all the social marketing activities around WASH for Health  at the Regional and District levels and maintains overall responsibility for technical oversight of communication activities of the project
•   Provide technical oversight and coordination of the development, production and dissemination of various communication materials and tools for different target groups at the community, school and community levels
•   Assist the CoP in the planning, development and periodic appraisals of the agency’s communication programs in compliance with the agency’s standards and formats, and in accordance with identified needs
•   Lead in the development, revisions and implementation of key communication strategies for WASH4Health along each of its six components
•   Provide technical support in the development of sound, innovative and cost effective communication strategies on WASH  and  guide their implementation
•   Ensure that the strategic design of the communication strategies for WASH4Health  adheres to existing Government of Ghana’s communication policies and strategies
•   Identify potential linkages with other electronic and print media houses to reach larger audience.
•   Support the CoP and work with other team members to document and draw lessons learned from CRS' experience in the WASH sector and disseminate to partners and other CRS CPs and Agency support staff.
•   Coordinate with the CoP to develop communication plans for various components of WASH 4Health
•   Support the drafting and submission of reports highlighting the progress of work achieved Represent CRS at sectoral meetings and provide feedback to the CoP

Key Working Relationships:

•   CRS/Ghana's WASH4Health Team, Health Program Manager, Head of Programs and Country Representative, Regional Technical Advisor for Emergency and WATSAN and WATSAN Sector representatives (government and NGOs)

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Master’s degree relevant to the field of communication, business, marketing or a related field.
•   Seven (7) years of working experience and proven expertise in private sector and marketing sector, specifically in Ghanaian and local government contest is desirable.
•   Proven experience in undertaking activities aimed at developing the private and public sector actors to effectively engage or stimulate a thriving private sector, carrying out Knowledge, Attitude and Practice (KAP) studies or supply chain assessments and developing or improving supply chains product and services.
•   Excellent communication skills in English both oral and written.
•   Strong interpersonal skills.
•   Working experience in developing countries or work experience in Ghana is desirable.

Desirable

•   Experience in health education, community mobilization, hygiene and sanitation campaigns will be an added advantage.
