Job Vacancy For Technical Director



Our client, a global health organization with the aim of improving the health of people in developing countries is looking for a well-organised and a proactive Technical Director to help with their operations in Ghana.

Scope of Work

• The Technical Director is a member of the organisation's senior management team
• He or she will provide overarching technical leadership for the USAID-funded Ghana social Marketing program
• The Technical Director will operator under the leadership of the Chief of Party (COP) and will deputize for the COP in his adsense
• The Tecnical Director, in addition, will directly line manage family planning (FP), maternal and child health (MCH), water and sanitation (WASH) technical, staff, research staff and procurement staff and work to ensure that these functions are fulfilled in a high-quality manager that meets project deliverables
• The Technical Director will also be responsible for donor reporting and compliance and new business development (fundraising).

Roles/Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and technical direction for key functions of the Ghana social Marketing Program, ensuring that the project's objectives are met
• Directly manage key technical staff in FP (Family Planning), MCH (Maternal Child Health) and WASH (Water, Sanitation and Hygiene)
• Oversee completion of high quality, timely donor reports and other compliance requirements
• Provide technical input into annual workplans
• Lead the organisation's procurement function, ensuring timely compliant procurement processes are executed by procurement staff
• Lead the organisation's new business development, i.e fundraising, by maintaining up-to-date knowledge on funding landscape, engaging with donors and leading proposal development process
• Support the COP (Chief of Party) develop and maintain strong working relationships with other USAID implementing partners (IPS) and other key stakeholders, including the Ghana Health Service, to maximize complementarity of efforts
• Develop the organisation's research department by building its capacity and overseeing development and execution of annual research plans as well as mainstreaming of evidence into programming approaches
• Work with M&E staff to design and implement a plan to track data/results related to FP, MCH, WASH and SBCC interventions to inform adjuestments in project implementation
• Provide mentoring and capacity building at the individual, organisational and institutional level in specific areas of expertise in FP, MCH and wASH
• Work closely with the COP on setting project direction and priorities, identifying and pursing opportunities for expansion of product and health technology portfolio
• Work closely with the COP to implement the transition from the old to the new local organisation, total family health organisation (TFHO).

Qualification Required & Experience

• A Masters of Public Health, MBA or a second degree in the humanities preferred
• At least 8 years experience designing and successfully implementing complex health projects in West Africa

Requirements

• Proven track record managing a project team composed of several technical experts and fostering team work
• Familiarity with USAID and other donor administrative, management and reporting procedures and systems
• Background in use of evidence for programming sufficient to manage a research team
• Demonstrated experience providing capacity building assistance at individual and organisational levels (e.g, local NGOs and CBOs)
• Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and presentation skills in English
• Experience implementing health projects that support or otherwise engage with the private health sector preferred
• Demonstrated experience in procurement management preferred
• Experience in new business development including proposal preferred
