Job Summary

The Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG), hereby invites result – oriented and committed persons to apply for the position of two (2) Internal Auditors-Assistants (Global Fund)  in the Association.

Purpose of the Position

To ensure efficient or effective mobilization and use of resources

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•   Assist in monitoring GF projects in Head Office, Zonal Offices and Project Sites for adherence to organizational policies and procedures as set out in PPAG regulatory manuals
•   Assist in ensuring PPAG complies with all statutory regulations of Ghana
•   Assist in continuous review of accounting systems
•   Assist in ensuring all assets are properly accounted for
•   Assist in checking for efficient utilization of funds through cost analysis of activities
•   Assist in training of and support of financial staff in the procedures and preparations for external auditing
•   Assist in verification of accounting records and returns
•   Assists in reviewing draft final accounts for auditing
•   Performs any other duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor

The Package

•   The position is based in Accra with some level of domestic travel

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A first degree in Accounting, B com or its equivalent in a Professional Accounting Qualification
•   A minimum of three (3) years post qualification experience

Purpose of position

Key Responsibilities

•   Conduct audits to assess the effectiveness of internal controls, accuracy of financial records, and
•   efficiency of organizational operations using professional audit standards and practices by:
•   Examine various departmental records and interview staff to ensure accurate recording of transactions and compliance with the World Vision International policies and procedures.
•   Inspect accounting systems to determine their efficiency and protective value in the recording and management of organization resources.
•   Review records pertaining to fixed and movable assets to determine degree to which they are effectively, efficiently and economically utilized
•   Analyze data obtained for evidence of deficiencies in internal controls, duplication of effort, extravagance, fraud, and non-compliance with country laws, government regulations, and management policies or procedures
•   Conducts compliance reviews of organization records to ensure compliance with Government statutory requirements in areas including but not limited to taxation laws, employment law and any other applicable local requirements
•   Conducts special reviews/investigations as directed.
•   Prepare reports of audit results and recommendations to management using good written skills
•   Obtain the requisite Continuous Professional Education (CPE) of 80 credits each 2 years
•   Assist Internal Audit Manager on international audit assignments and other assignments as required by Global Internal Audit Department (GIA)

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Minimum Educational level required:   University degree in any of the business subject  (Accounting and Management preferred)
•   Technical Training qualifications required:  Must have good working knowledge of computerized accounting systems, preferably Sun Systems & Vision
•   Professional accounting qualifications- CPA, ACCA, CA or other internationally recognized accounting qualification will be an added advantage.
•   Must be computer literate in using Microsoft Office programs
•   Experience:  3years working experience in any Finance and/ or Audit roles.

Job Vacancy For Internal Audit Officer At Millennium Development Authority (MiDA)

The Government of Ghana was declared eligible for a poverty reduction grant from the Millennium Challenge Corporation (“MCC”), a United States Government Agency. In connection therewith, the Government submitted Concept Papers to MCC, and after a successful outcome of due diligence, and the availability of funds, has resulted in a Compact between the Government and MCC pursuant to which MCC would provide a five-year, multimiHion dollar poverty reduction grant to the Government of Ghana (a “Compact”). The Millennium Development Authority (MiDA) will be responsible for the management of the implementation of the Compact. Subject to the terms and conditions of the Compact, related agreements, and the availability of funds, the Government intends to use a portion of the funds provided through the Compact to procure professional personnel in MiDA to assist the Government with the management and implementation of the Compact programme in a transparent, timely, effective, efficient, results-oriented and fiscally sound manner.

Reports to: Internal Audit Director

Roles and Responsibilities:

•   Assist the Internal Audit Director in supporting the funds accountability statement audits
•   Assist in establishing a plan for auditing the operation and program activities of the MiDA that focuses on the identification and control of risk, improvements in the efficiency and, effectiveness of operations and programs, and compliance with external laws and regulations and internal policies and procedures
•   Assist in conducting audits based on the plan.
•   Communicate audit results to appropriate program managers.
•   Assist in following up on audit recommendations to ensure corrective actions are taken.
•   Assist in the evaluation of internal control systems, especially those relating to financial management.
•   Ensure the recommendations of the external auditor are implemented, as appropriate.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   An undergraduate degree in accounting or auditing.
•   Four (4) years of experience working as a public accountant, a management accountant, an auditor, or internal auditor.
•   Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in applying the principles, techniques, practices and procedures of an internal audit function; developing sound internal controls for financial and operational programs, developing remediation programs where controls have been found deficient: developing risk assessment instruments and communicating to program managers how to assess risk in their respective areas.
•   Ability to achieve results while working under pressure.
•   Ability to evaluate automated financial accounting system and to develop methods for testing system controls.
•   Ability to use office software such as Microsoft Office products.
•   Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
