Duties and Responsibilities

• Exer oversight responsibility over the Accounting Department
• Apply principles of Accounting in analysing financial information and Profit & Loss statements
• Plan and develop systems and procedures for improving the efficiency of the Accounting Department.
• Exercise responsibility for stationery stock depreciation of fixed assets and computation of provisions on overdue debts with support from the Head of Credit Department
• Exercise responsibility for all electronic fund transfers or transactions including those of the automated teller machines (ATM)
• Design and prepare annual budgets and budgetary controls with input and assistance from the budget committee and consult with senior management on the discal aspects of programme planning, salary recommendations, and other administrative actions
• Exercise responsibility for preparing monthly final accounts for discussion and decision by board and senior management
• Analyse and review budgets, revenue and expenditure level/trends and make appropriate recommendations to senior management
• Liaise with internal and external auditors for successful completion of audit exercises and the relevant information of recommendations
• Exercise responsibility for preparing of reconciliation statements among branches, and with other banks
• Perform any other duty assigned by senior management and the board

Qualification Required & Experience

• A minimum qualification of BSc in Administration with Accounting, Banking or Finance option, or passes in some Final levels/parts of a professional body such as CIMA, ACIB, CA and ACCA or am equivalent qualification from a recognised institution plus a minimum of 5 years experience as accountant in a financial institution

Qualities & Skills

• Experiene in using computer-based Accounting system and Microsoft office applications such as Word, Excel and Power Point.
• Must demonstrate diligence, courtesy and a high sense of integrity
• Must possess good communication skills and good interpersonal skills
• Must be resulted-oriented

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
