Job Summary

Supervision of Accounts Section, including Payroll and ensuring accurate and timely processing of accounting information.

The Job Responsibilities would include but not limited to the following:

•   Manage accounts staff (scheduling, training, disciplining, appraising, etc.)
•   Develop, motivate and coach subordinates to achieve sustained performance improvement
•   Preparation of statutory annual reports
•   Ensure timely filing of tax returns and other local regulatory requirements
•   Ensure accurate, timely and organized treatment of all accounting documents
•   Ensure timely and accurate preparation of cash statements
•   Review and enforce financial and internal control policies and procedures
•   Ensure timely monthly closing of accounts
•   Organize and supervise annual physical stock takings
•   Compliance with environmental, health and safety regulations
•   Act as an advisor to management on all accounting and fiscal matters

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A qualified accountant (member of ACCA/ICAG)
•   At least 5 years post qualification experience of which at least 2 in a similar position
•   Strong knowledge of the Ghanaian tax systems
•   Very good working knowledge of MS Excel; knowledge of SunSystems is an asset

Key Duties

•   Ensuring the asset purchase/disposal and capex function is completed per AMS policy
•   Complete the capital budget, including current and growth operations up to 3 year cycles

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Must have advanced Accounting Tertiary qualifications with a Post Bachelor qualification – ACCA/CA/CPA
•   Minimum of 5 years accounting experience
•   Must have advanced Microsoft Office knowledge
•   Must have knowledge in financial software – Pronot/Pulse
•   Must have knowledge of principle and practices of accounting nd a commercial and audit environment
•   Must have knowledge of statutory Accounting and Tax compliance procedures
•   Experience in fixed  asset management an advantage
•   Proficiency in french will be an advantage
•   Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and e-mail
•   Must be self-motivated
•   Willing to learn
•   An understanding of Mining Regulations will be an advantage
•   Must be prepared to travel widely across West Africa
