Job Description

•   Location: WASCAL Head office, Accra, Ghana
•   Duration: Three years (renewable)
•   Report to:  The Systems Account Manager

The West African Science Service Center for Climate Change and Adapted Land Use (WASCAL) is seeking to fill the position of Accounting Assistant.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide support in the following areas:

•   Provide assistance in the development of  financial report  for the WASCAL Graduate Schools
•   Data entry of accounts details
•   Assist in the preparation of final account
•   Assist in the preparation of cash book and reconciliation statement
•   Auditing and analyzing financial reports
•   Processing students research fund.
•   Processing payment and keeping records of student’s stipend.
•   Auditing and keeping up to date records on students research funding and financial report analysis.
•   Keeping up date records of all funds transfer to the various schools.
•   Processing payment and keeping records of lecturer’s honorarium paid to the various schools.
•   Processing payment and keeping records of supervisors’ honorarium paid to the various schools.
•   Any other duty that may be assigned from time to time

Qualification Required & Experience

This position requires:

•   BSc. Accounting/ BCOM/HND Accounting or equivalent qualification
•   At least 3 years of working experience
•   Fluency in written and oral English and French
•   A high level of efficiency and organizational skills to ensure timely delivery of services
•   The ability to work independently
•   Excellent interpersonal skills and team player
•   Computer literacy and good working knowledge of an accounting software, preferably Sage.
•   High sense of integrity
•   Ability to work under pressure
•   Citizen of a WASCAL member country (see www.wascal.org)
•   Any other business that may be assigned from time to time
