Qualification Required & Experience

Minimum of BSc Accounting Option or Higher

•   National Diploma in Accounting ICA Part 2, ACCA level 2 will be an added advantage
•   At least three (3) years of experience
•   Experienceand knowledge of USAID Accounting principles and procedures
•   Demonstrate understanding of accounting and spreadsheet

THE ACCOUNTANT REPORTS TO THE MANAGER AND IS RESPONSIBLE FOR ACCOUNTING AND DOCUMENTING ALL FINANCIAL TRANSACTIONS FOR THE COMPANY/ORGANIZATION AND SUPERVISION OF DAY TO DAY ACTIVITIES. HE/SHE WILL ALSO ASSIST THE MANAGER TO ENSURE THAT ALL ACCESS DEVELOPMENT ACCOUNTING PROCEDURES ARE FOLLOWED AND BUDGETS ARE ADHERED TO.

REPORTS TO:

Manager Access Development Ghana

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•   Assist the Manager to setup, establish and monitor internal controls at the Regional Operations Center (ROC).
•   Maintain the company’s system of accounts.
•   Prepare detailed and timely financial management information required by Access Development HQ and Manager.
•   Supervise day-to-day activities at the ROC when the Manager is off-site
•   Participate in business training for Access Development Franchisees.
•   Prepare statutory payments and tax reports to government and allied agencies.
•   Keep books and records on all company transactions.
•   Prepare and send out receipts, bills, invoices, and statements as required, and any other financial documentation for supporting grant or other income.
•   Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and MS Word.
•   Prepare purchase order, payment vouchers and issuing certificates, as required by Access Development’s accounting procedures in dealing with program expenditure.
•   Provide data to outside payroll processor in order for timely payment, reporting, and recording of all payroll related items.
•   Review and reconcile staff cash working advances and program expenditure balances in coordination with the program officers.
•   Assist and ensure that contractual commitments are expressed in forms appropriate for the circumstances of the program.
•   Ensure all program and support staff are implementing Access Development field accounting policies accurately.
•   Enter financial data into financial reporting software.
•   Ensure all backup documentation is properly organized and filed for complete transparency and audit purposes.
•   Prepare and process documents for financial operations, including advance, interim and final payments to contractors/franchisees.
•   Purchase, set-up and implement initial accounting software program.
•   Ensure proper external back-up and security of all accounting and related business information.
•   Any other task and responsibilities as required for the success of the ROC as determined by Access Development HQ and the Manager.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Accounting or finance-related degree and or equivalent academic or professional qualification.
•   Three to Five years related experience in accounting and finance work.
•   Excellent knowledge of accounting software.
•   Substantial demonstrable understanding and experience of finance management within a business is an added advantage.
•   Good command (both verbal and written) of English
•   Experience teaching business management and accounting an advantage.
•   Must be capable of working both individually and as part of a team.
•   Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, stressful environment. Must be flexible, willing to perform other duties and work irregular hours.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Works directly with Access Development employees, reports to ROC Manager. For Financial Control reports to Water4 CFO.

Primary Responsibility
BuildCocoa Project Accountant

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the project manager, the accountant shall:

•   Manage the Project’s budget including, preparing quarterly and annual budget plan, preparing quaterly and annual budget reports for project managers review, managing advance fund in compliance with the prevailing regulations, tracking disbursement progress, cash management and disbursement, returning VAT, processing and paying personal income tax, tracking expenditures of relevant stakeholders, loan accounting.
•   Making and recording accounting books, financial reports of project according to the rules and regulation set by project donor, including: Cash book, expenditure minutes, legder book, cash advance book and direct payment book as well as other books required by the financial rules and regulations
•   Supervise and coordinate the provision of all administrative personnel and financial support to the project, ensuring that appropriate control and reporting structures are maintained in accordance to the donors financial rules and regulations
•   Manage accounting and financial reporting functions ensuring consistency, timeliness and quality of information in accordance to project donor financial reporting standards
•   Ensure that the project maanger is properly informed at all times
•   Ensure appropriateness of control system, correctness and reliability of accounting records used in the project
•   Preparing travel documentations and payments of pr diem, other allowances etc.
•   Consolidate the accounts from different units of the project

Qualification Required & Experience

•   At least a first degree in accounting or financial management
•   Professional experience: 3+ years
