Duties, Roles and Responsibilities:

•  Record daily financial transactions
•  Prepare monthly trial balance
•  Prepare weekly financial report
•  Prepare donor financial reports
•  Ensure that imprests are properly and timely accounted for
•  Ensure that retirement are done as soon as possible (not later than one week after activity has been completed)
•  Prepare monthly Bank reconciliation statement
•  Prepare & pay monthly payroll
•  Prepare and pay IRS & SSNIT returns
•  Ensure proper receipt and documentation are made for refunds
•  Ensure that all reimbursement claims are approved by authorised persons
•  Document assets of organisation

Qualification Required & Experience

•  Degree (BCom, BSc in Administration) or HND (Accountancy)
•  2 years or more experience in similar position

Skills and Competencies:

•  Computer literate
•  Ability to use an accounting based software will be an advantage
•  High Integrity
•  Report writing

Position Description
Reporting to the Group Chief Executive and serving as an integral member of senior management team,  the Group General Manager Finance and Operations (GM/FO) will be responsible for  development of  Group’s financial management strategy and contribute to  development of  organization’s strategic goals. In addition to strategic components, GM/FO will be charged with developing and implementing more sophisticated policies and procedures both in finance and general operational realms.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a finance executive with operational experience and a proven track record of creative problem-solving and change management to join in a high-growth, mission-driven organization with interests in the financial, real estate, commodities industry.

Key Accountabilities (Strategy, Vision and Leadership)

•  Advise the Group Chief Executive and or key members of senior management on financial planning, budgeting, cash flow, investment priorities, and policy matters.
•  Serve as management liaison to board and audit committee; effectively communicate and present critical financial matters at select board of directors and committee meetings.
•  Contribute to development of the Group’s strategic goals and objectives as well as overall management of group.
•  Maintain continuous lines of communication, keeping the Group Chief Executive informed of all critical issues. Represent organization externally, as necessary.

Key Accountabilities (Team Development /Leadership)

•  Oversee, direct, and organize work of finance and operations teams of member organizations.
•  Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality.
•  Ensure key staffs of member organizations receive timely and appropriate training and development.
•  Establish and monitor key staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals, and administer salary adjustments.
•  Mentor and develop key staff using a supportive and collaborative approach: assign accountabilities; set objectives; establish priorities; and monitor and evaluate results.

Key Accountabilities (Operations)

•  Upgrade and implement an appropriate system of policies, internal controls, accounting standards, and procedures.
•  Plan, coordinate, and execute annual budget process.
•  Ensure that The Group is adhering to strategic plan, delivering status reports to the board.
•  Provide analytical support to The Group’s senior management team including development of internal management reporting capabilities.
•  Improve administrative and operational accounting services such as treasury management, payroll, accounts payable, and purchasing.

Qualification Required & Experience

Essential Criteria

•  Minimum 10 years experience in a senior management role ideally with both external audit and in-house financial management experience gained in a high-growth organization;
•  Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization;
•  Excellent judgment and creative problem solving skills including negotiation and conflict resolution skills;
•  Strong mentoring, coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise;
•  Entrepreneurial team player who can multitask;
•  Superior management skills; ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers;
•  Self reliant, good problem solver, results oriented;

Desirable Criteria

•  Business or Accounting is degree mandatory
•  Master’s in business administration is preferred
•  CPA, CMA, ACCA, CA (GH)
•  Experience as an employee or board member of a financial services organisation; must be familiar with finance and accounting regulations within financial services industry.

Job Summary

Purpose of the job:
The Financial Department of Abosso Goldfields is seeking to employ the services of a self motivated individual for the position of Unit Manager – Management Accounting. Reporting to the Financial Manager, the incumbent will provide top management with cost and production information with respect to the company’s performance measurement reports, in accurate and timeous manner for decision making purposes.

Key Responsibilities:

•  Preparing accurate periodic financial reports to assist in management decision making
•  Ensuring confidentiality of information at all times
•  Preparing and maintaining Performance Monitoring to avoid over expenditure
•  Initiate & Champion cost saving Ideas
•  Manage the Approved Capital Expenditure to avoid over expenditure
•  Management of deadlines and critical Calendar times such as Financial Year end
•  Collating of all Departmental budget and preparing the Budget for the mine
•  Preparing the Life of Mine financial for the Resource & Reserve reporting
•  Ensuring the proper administration of Accounting and Fixed Assets systems
•  Establishing and maintaining good communication channels between departments to allow accurate and timeous dissemination of relevant information to the right people
•  Liaising with Departmental Heads to check departmental costs
•  Making of inputs in the preparation of Expatriate and Senior Employees’ payroll as and when required
•  Implement Training system & performance manage the Cost Accounting team to fill succession pipeline
•  Act as the Finance Manager when Substantive is offsite

Qualification Required & Experience

•  BSc Accounting or BCom qualification from a recognised tertiary institution and/or qualification from a recognised Accountancy body such as ACCA, ICA, CIMA, CPA
•  At least 5 years experience in a similar position or job
•  Well developed oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with people of diverse cultures and levels
•  Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
•  Strong Analytical Skills
•  Knowledge in computerized accounting i.e. ACCPAC and Microsoft Office products such as MSWord,
•  Advanced Excel and Power Point
•  Medical fitness for the position and environment
•  A valid and current light duty vehicle license and proficiency in driving a light vehicle
