The Technical Lead shall be responsible for implementing on the ground technical projects.
The role  reports to the Project Manager/ C.E.O.

Role Specific Requirements:

•  Participate in the breeding programme
•  Understand the impact of agronomic interventions on yield
•  Rehabilitate existing seed production units
•  Develop a strong working relationship with the Cocoa Research institute of Ghana as well as the wider cocoa research community in West Africa
•  Establish demonstration farms for GAP research and extension
•  Manage and coordinate all technical aspects of breeding program while ensuring that goals are aligned with the commercial and Socio-Economic teams
•  Participate in industry programmes as and when relevant
•  Work closely with the local extension service
•  Take ownership of GAP knowledge management by working with other bodies to actively develop knowledge
•  Contribute to the production of technical reports covering the project for communication to the global cocoa sustainability team
•  Provide necessary support for publication of the farmer Newspaper, maintaining the cocoa research website etc.

Qualification Required & Experience

Minimum Qualification:

•  Degree in Agriculture
•  A Masters degree in Agriculture or similar field will be a plus
•  At least 5 years experience of working in the agriculture sector (preferably cocoa)
•  Experience of working with research institutions and a focus on rural development, agriculture extension and applied research
•  Fluent English speaker
•  Working knowledge of French
•  Project management experience
•  Clean Driver’s license
