The Technology Promotion Officer will:

•   Assist in the implementation of the Agricultural Commodity Processing Infrastructure Development (ACPID). He/she will be responsible for ensuring that the Districts have the requisite system to upgrade the level of technology of rural micro and small enterprises (MSEs). He /she will report to the National Director on matters relating to the development of requisite system for technology transfer to rural MSEs in the districts. Support the establishment and operations of 30 new Rural Technology Facilities (RTFs) in collaboration with the District Assemblies, selected Implementing Entity for the ACPID component and the private sector.
•   Coordinating the delivery of services in training and technology dissemination based on prior needs assessment by the RTFs and BACs including master craft persons training, traditional apprentices training which require the use of Technology Service Providers, occupational safety health and environmental management seminars, NVTI certification and provision of graduate apprentices start up kits and development of light industrial zones.
•   Developing and implementing training schemes for training master crafts persons and apprentices to promote effective linkages and collaboration with the private sector, Local Business Associations and non- governmental organisations (NGOs)

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Degree in Agricultural or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification with a minimum of 5 years relevant post qualification working experience.
•   Experience with a donor funded agency may be an advantage.

The ‘Pathways to Secure and Resilient Livelihoods project will work with smallholder farmers, especially women, from poor households to reduce their vulnerability and susceptibility to natural disasters and increase their resilience in the face of climate change.

JOB SUMMARY

The Project Officer reports to the Program Coordinator of the Project. The position is based in Tamale, and covers project implementation, management and coordination responsibilities in Upper West and Upper East Regions of Ghana.  S/he is responsible for facilitating adequate communication, team building, accountability, monitoring, and effective collaboration between partners / stakeholders involved in project implementation.

Key Responsibilities

•   Support in improving knowledge, skills, relationships, self-confidence and conviction of poor women farmers in soy and groundnut value chain in Upper East and West.
•   Support project team to increase access to productive resources, assets, markets, and appropriate and reliable services and inputs for poor women farmers and entrepreneurs.
•   To improve the adaptive capacity, yield, and income of farmers through the adoption of sustainable agriculture, value addition, and market engagement practices.
•   Facilitate participatory analysis and planning processes for project stakeholders
•   Take a lead role in facilitating participatory, gender-sensitive analysis of vulnerability at community level and identification and prioritization of CBA strategies for household/individual level by project stakeholders
•   Collaborate with project partners and other Country Project Team members to synthesize, analyze and validate the analysis
•   Building capacity of local implementing partner organizations working at household/individual level Evaluate capacity of local implementing partner organizations working at household/individual level
•   Support the M&E unit in the development of quality M&E tools and operationalization of the global Pathways M&E Frame work  to enable effective information/data collection
•   Identify support needed by target groups to implement CBA strategies
•   Develop capacity building  strategy
•   Provide training, mentoring and ongoing technical advice to partners

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A minimum qualification of a first degree in Agriculture or Natural Resource Management
•   Masters degree in Social Sciences, Agriculture or Natural Resource Management will be an added advantage
•   At least 5 years progressive experience in the area of project management and promoting gender equality,
•   Experience in working with local communities, partnership with local NGOs and District Assemblies structures
•   Knowledgeable in food security and nutrition issues
•   5 years with an international NGO Knowledge and understanding of communities livelihood issues including food security and nutrition and market oriented agriculture
•   Experience in working with District Assemblies and NGOs and Private Sector
•   Demonstrated capacity in at least two of the following areas: equity and diversity; vulnerability, governance and institution capacity building; poverty alleviation; and conflict resolution.
•   Excellent facilitation, negotiation, networking, interpersonal and communication skills
•   Excellent administrative and project planning skills, management and communication and report writing, monitoring, supervisory and coaching skills
•   Proven competencies in designing and conducting training and workshops
•   Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Internet)
•   Excellent spoken and written English

JOB SUMMARY

The Project Coordinator of this initiative reports to the Program Manager of the Pathways Program in CARE-Ghana. The position is based in Tamale, and covers project implementation, management and coordination responsibilities in Upper West and Upper East Regions of Ghana.  S/he is responsible for facilitating adequate communication, team building, accountability, monitoring, and effective collaboration between partners / stakeholders involved in project implementation.

The position is based in Tamale. S/He is responsible for developing and implementing strategies and action plans for the achievement of the outcomes and outputs of the project.. S/He will be responsible for community activity planning and implementation, collaboration at the community level, and monitoring and reporting of all project activities in their respective technical areas. The project Coordinator will be responsible for planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.

Key Responsibilities

•   Take lead responsibility for project financial management:
•   Ensure timely development of project budgets with input from partners and taking lead responsibility for monthly project budget reviews against Project expenditure information to ensure efficient project implementation.
•   Manage contracts for contributions from consultants and partners.
•   Conduct regular project reviews with Pathways team, partners and collaborators to assess status of project implementation against project outputs and outcomes.
•   Support the M&E unit in the development of quality M&E tools and operationalization of the global Pathways M&E Frame work  to enable effective information/data collection
•   Ensure documentation of processes, progress, results, impacts and lessons learnt to inform development of donor annual technical and financial reports
•   Identify & strategically manage relevant collaboration opportunities at different levels of implementation that enhance operational & implementation learning
•   Take lead responsibility for documentation of project donor technical and financial reports on schedule as agreed in the donor IPIA.
•   Ensure compliance with donor and CARE Ghana reporting requirements

Qualification Required & Experience

JOB SUMMARY

The project facilitator for the Pathways to Secure and Resilient Livelihood project will facilitate the implementation of project activities in the Garu Tempane District.  His/Her primary responsibility will be to facilitate the implementation of value chain development activities for Soybean and Groundnuts making use of tested CARE models such as VSLA, CBEAs, CBLA and other appropriate models aimed at providing  economic opportunity for women. S/he will support in the implementation of work plans developed with communities and stakeholders and ensure the field implementation of project activities.

The position is based in Garu Tempane district but will be required to travel from time to time to Tamale for work.

Key Responsibilities

•   Mobilise communities for the implementation of the Project using Farmer field Business Schools (FFBS) as a major platform for capacity building.
•   Organize community meetings to sensitize communities on the project.
•   Support in assessing and selecting VSLAs to participate in Project activities.
•   Build capacity of Community based trainers and women smallholders using the Farmer Field and Business School (FFBS) to understand climate risks of target communities and  the appropriate adaptation strategies.
•   Facilitate the adoption and uptake of improved resilience, agriculture, market engagement and gender practices using the Participatory Performance Tracker (PPT) tool.
•   Facilitate capacity building programmes for various groups the project is working with i.e producer groups, marketing committees, male gender champions etc.
•   Mobilise community leaders and existing institutions such as Traditional Authorities (TA) to provide the requisite support for implementation of project activities.
•   Strengthen relationship and linkages between key stakeholders in the Soybean and Groundnut Value Chains.
•   Support Project Officer in strengthening relations between value chain stakeholders in the pilot areas and in creating safe space for dialogue between stakeholders such as producers, aggregators, input dealer, marketers, tillage service providers, extension service providers.
•   Provide specific technical advice, training and extension in some of the following: farming systems development; off-farm and marketing activities, linkages, local institutional development
•   Collaborate with Communities and the team to plan, implement, monitor and evaluate project activities, so as to ensure the effective and efficient achievement of project objectives.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A minimum qualification of a first degree in a relevant discipline such as Agriculture, horticulture, agronomy, agric extension and training with an understanding and experience in the other
•   At least 3 years of relevant working experience, including field practical experience in working with rural communities and women groups.
•   Strong experience and knowledge of PLA tools and training methodologies, community mobilization
•   Proven experience and understanding of nutrition  and food security issues linked to reproductive health and child malnutrition
•   Experience of working with partners is key to this position
•   Proven and demonstrable facilitation skills, negotiation skills and networking skills including facilitating change, innovation and initiating action
•   Commitment to and understanding of a process and livelihood approach to development
•   Excellent professionalism, relationship building and communication skills
•   Adherence to CARE’s core values and competencies (RICED)
•   Excellent communication skills and fluent spoken English
•   Computer skills that must include Microsoft Office and Excel

Job Summary

•   Five years of relevant working experience, including a minimum of three years in leadership position in development sector including financial management, Project Management and team leadership.
•   Skills and experience in external stakeholder engagement including donors, government and private sector and experience with coordination of multi-stakeholder forums and steering committees.
•   Possession of Strong Program management skills.
•   Strong Human Resource skills.
•   Experience in providing technical support and ensuring program quality.
•   Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
