A licensed Universal Bank is seeking a qualified candidate to head its internal audit to coordinate, supervise and effectively monitor compliance of the bank’s operation with set policies and guidelines, ensure the bank’s are a true reflection if its financial status, financial records generated for internal and external use are accurate and outstanding issues and balances are promptly investigated and resolved.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

•  Ensure that policies and guidelines issued by bank of Ghana are complied with.
•  Drive internal audit function to ensure strict compliance with audit time-table and programmes
•  Ensure high quality of audit and investigation work acceptable to external examiners
•  Ensure up to date review of proofs, reconciliation and suspense accounts for early detection of irregularities before external examinations.
•  Review audit and investigation reports for thoroughness, quality of recommendation and standard of reporting
•  Ensure major issues uncovered in the cause of auditing are well highlighted and documented in the unit’s reports
•  Maintain effective liaison with external auditors. Review findings and recommendations resulting from examinations/audits carried out.
•  Recommend additions to, reviews and amendments to existing policies and guidelines on internal controls to reflect changes in the business environment and the bank
•  Plan, coordinate and supervise functions of the unit
•  Submit quarterly reports to the board of directors on exceptions raised during audits.
•  Contribute to the achievement of the bank’s quality objectives and improve upon the quality management systems applicable to the role.

Qualification Required & Experience

The successful candidates will possess:

•  A minimum qualification of a first degree with a second class upper with a professional qualification in accounting and formal training in auditing and investigations. A masters degree will be an added advantage.
•  6 years of experience in a similar position in a bank or an audit firm
