Objectives of Programme:

The focus of the programme is on providing support to the production and trade in staple food markets between Ghana and Burkina Faso, and between Nigeria and Niger. The programme will work to enable policies that allow for equitable and efficient regional market development and will aim to tackle the cause of multiple market failures by deploying carefully targeted interventions across the region. The anticipated outcomes of the five year project are: better business models for agricultural production; better business models for agricultural marketing and; agriculture and trade policies and regulations rationalised and improved.

The programme consists of two main activities;

1) A Challenge fund to provide finance to innovative business models in food production and marketing and;
2) A Policy Facility to provide evidence, analysis and advocacy for policy and regulatory reform.

The Project will be based in Accra, Ghana with travel to Burkina Faso, Niger and Nigeria. Anticipated Start Date – October 2013

Job Vacancy For Communications Expert At Ministry of Food and Agriculture

As part of programmmes put in place to strengthen some Divisions in the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), the Ministry now seeks to recruit the under-listed staff.

Job Function:

Deliver a first class service for all internal and external communications designed to present and maintain a positive public image of the Ministry

The successful candidate will be required, among others, to:

•  Plan and write high quality corporate annual Report and ensure design and production appeal
•  Serve as Editor of the Employee Newsletter
•  Write, design, update and produce forward looking Business Reports (Corporate brochures, magazines, feature articles etc)
•  Plan and organize Trade Fairs and exhibitions notionally and internationally
•  Plan and organize corporate events – anniversaries, open day ceremonies, etc
•  Provide protocol, travel services, photographic, video coverage and documentaries and guided tours for corporate facilities
•  Provide leadership for Areas in Community Relations
•  Provide relevant, promotional information content for the corporate website, with regular updates
•  Provide suggestions to management for actions to address issues identified
•  Strong stakeholder relations

Qualification Required & Experience

The right candidate must process the following:-

•  A Bachelor’s Degree in English, Humanities or Social Sciences
•  A Master’s Degree in Communication Studies/Post Graduate Diploma or related field of study
•  A minimum of 10 years experience in professional public relations practice
•  Must have practical and expert understanding of relevant regulatory, business, political and cultural environment
•  Ability to identify issues, assess risks and controls
•  Must have superior communication, leadership, organizational, interpersonal, written, verbal, analytical, negotiation and networking skills, with a strong ability to write, edit and to undertake research
•  Be able to respond or work under pressure to fulfill statutory obligations and deadlines
