BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION

•   Incumbent performs supervisory role and coordinates activities of all tradesmen in his/her team engaged in installation, maintenance and repair works in all the mission offices, residencies and grounds are done to specifications. Also maintains all records of work assignment, interprets blueprints, buildings plan, manufactures specifications, instruction and security regulations to workers and enforces adherence to safety regulations.
•   The incumbent works as a generator mechanic, receiving verbal instructions or work orders concerning job to performed, and proceeds to accomplish the necessary maintenance. Reads specifications, using proper tools and checking all work for completion; Examines equipment or makes diagnostic tests to determine the nature and extent of work necessary; Disassembles equipment and adjusts repairs or replaces defective parts or components to correct malfunctions. Periodically inspects tests, cleans and services equipment. May drive a vehicle to the job-site and/ or supervise a trades helper. May perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Completion of Technical or Vocational training in mechanics (Generator) and or completion of a Secondary School is required.

•   Level III (Good working knowledge) in English is required. Good working knowledge of the written and spoken language. Job holder will be able to prepare correspondence and standardized reports and communicate with staff and members of the public in the language. Language proficiency will be tested.
•   Must know how to use the tools of the trade, and have full journeyman mechanic knowledge of established trade practices and procedures.
•   Must possess and provide a copy of a valid local driver’s license minimum of Class B. Driving skills will be tested. Must have basic computer skills with experience with Microsoft office applications. Typing and computer skills will be tested.

•   Thorogh knowledge of FSPO marine practices, including deck operations, engine room activities, navigation, marine regulations, tank entry and inspection etc. (E)
•   Previous experience with the hydrocarbons industry and the FSPO’s is preferred, with a working knowledge of hydrocardbon operations, safety systems and permit to work procedures essential (D)
•   Understanding of relevant legislative requirements with the respect to overall operation of FPSO’s (E)

•   Electrical / Instrument / Control apprenticeship or equivalent training scheme (E)

Experience:

•   Minimum 5 years offshore experience (E).
•   Previous experience with responsibility for maintenance of electrical, instrument plant/systems, communications, knowledge with DCS, programmable logic controllers and associated hardware and associated equipment (E).
•   Familiar with DCS systems (E)
•   In-depth Knowledge and input of CMMS systems (E)

•   Ensure a safe and comprehensive handover is given at shift or crew change with all pertinent operational and maintenance information to relevant personnel.
•   Provide required input to vessel meetings, planning, initiatives etc.

Health and Safety Responsibilities:

•   Ensure all work is conducted in full compliance with the Safety Management System, including vessel safety regulations and positively support all safety initiatives and improvements
•   Proactively contribute to delivery against HSE plans and improvement objectives.
•   Be aware of physical condition of plant & equipment to ensure technical integrity is maintained; raise issues and concerns identified.

Duties and Responsibilities

•   Understands MODEC Ghana’s operational activities and link business and training strategies
•   Coach and support Managers and Supervisors to deliver effective competency development program onboard
•   Develop, implement and manage the provision of training and competence management services to the FPSO Operations Team ensuring internal targets and expectations are met
•   Develop the operational skills and knowledge of the national workforce to operate the plant and facilities safely and efficiently
•   Consult with the stakeholders on the development of individual or team professional skills through a range of measures that aim to achieve current business goals meet future challenges and build capacity for change of national workforce to replace expatriate staff and operate the plant and facilities safely and efficiently
•   coordinate, facilitate and document all activities, which are required to develop national competency assurance & assessment; provide on-the-job training, coaching and assessment of operations mentors, assessors, technicians and staff. Particular focus is placed in training programs that result in internationally recognized certification of professional skills
•   Ensure all possible learning opportunities are made available to the staff through planned operational activities
•   Coordinate the offshore training of technicians and operational staff in line with the existing competence levels sufficiently to close the identified skills gaps and render personnel capable of applying the acquired skills to safely operate and maintain utilities as well as oil and gas production systems and facilities as required.
•   Manage the Succession Plan Process to ensure the transfer of necessary competencies to meet the local content requirement.
•   Identifying training and development needs within an organisation through job analysis, appraisal schemes and regular consultation with business managers and human resources departments
•   Present, propose and be part of the designing and developing of action learning programs based on information management and ensure the widest possible practical work exposure is offered to all personnel.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   HNC / ONC level in an engineering / operations discipline or trade equivalent (E)
•   TAQA Level 3 qualification or equivalent (i.e. A1, or D32/33) (E)
•   TAQA Level 4 qualification or equivalent (i.e. V1, or D34), or should be working towards it (E)
•   Level 3 Certificate/Diploma in Learning and Development Practices. (E)

Experience:

•   Minimum of 10 years experience in training & development discipline or trade equivalent, experience with relevant international competence systems & frameworks working under a Safety Case regime. (E)
•   Minimum of five years experience in Operations or offshore environments with at least three years at a supervisory level. (E)
•   Proven coaching and mentoring skills related to the Oil & Gas industry (E)
•   General Contractor Management. (E)
