Access Development a new company in Ghana is seeking qualified individuals to grow the company. Access Development will be training water borehole drilling businesses and manufacturing manual borehole drilling equipment and hand pumps in their newly constructed factory in Savelugu, Tamale.

THE PRODUCTION TECHNICIANS WILL ASSIST THE WORKSHOP MANAGER TO MANUFACTURE MANUAL WELL DRILLING TOOLS, WATER PUMPS AND WELL HEAD COMPONENTS TO SUPPORT ACCESS DEVELOPMENT FRANCHISEES.

REPORTS TO:

Workshop/Production Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES:

•   Assist Workshop Manager to ensure that production schedules are met
•   Complete daily activities and operations in a safe, proper and timely manner
•   Take proper care of all workshop assets such as tools, materials, supplies and vehicles
•   Follow all health & safety procedures in the daily operations of workshop personnel

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Graduates of a vocational training school
•   Hands on practical experience in metal working and machine tool operation a plus
•   Detail-oriented, ability to follow limited technical direction to perform various mechanical tasks.
•   Skilled welder using rod and MIG welders
•   Motivated and interested in learning
•   Able to read plans
•   Computer literacy a plus
•   Must be smart and organized with good interpersonal skills
•   Must be fluent in English and have good communication skills
•   Must have hands-on mechanical aptitude.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

Works directly with Access Development employees reports to Workshop/Production Manager.

•   To have proven experience of managing a team of 4-6 autocad technicians,  structural drawings department or similar.

Responsibilities

•   Testing, calibration, and repairs of pneumatic, mechanical, electrical and electronic measuring, recording, indicating and control instruments/equipment. Tasks also include repairs and preventive maintenance on Air compressors, conveying systems, piping, power generators, power switch gears and other power driven rotating equipment.
•   Complies with all Company Safety rules and procedures.
•   Participates in routine Preventative/Predictable Maintenance.
•   Troubleshoots equipment stoppages and reacts accordingly.
•   Utilizes various mechanical and electrical test equipment.
•   Assists with manufacturing during product change-over.
•   Plans, assists, documents, and implements process improvement techniques and devices.
•   Utilizes machining, electrical and mechanical trade skills to complete daily tasks.
•   Communicates with production and other various customers as needed.
•   Performs other tasks as assigned by Management.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   2-4 years practical hands on experience in an industrial setting as a Production Technician.
•   HND in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
•   Experience with high pressure hydraulics, pneumatics, and automated material handling utilizing 3 Phase 480vac VFD’s 24 control and PLC Control Logix troubleshooting.
•   Have knowledge of simple and complex heavy industrial equipment such as forklifts, scissors lifts, basket trucks and bobcats.
•   Able to interpret and produce mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics.

Additional Information

•   Good electrical aptitude.
•   Ability to work with minimal supervision on various optimization projects from conception to completion.

Main responsibilities:

•   To assist the HSEQ & CI Department in inspecting and supervising the different on/offshore operations and activities on site.

•   Assist   the   HSE   Coordinator   in   the preparation and implementation of field HSE programs and schedules,

•   Participate in the investigation, review and analysis of incidents and accidents making recommendations  and implementing corrective actions,
•   Ensure frequent emergency exercises and drills are conducted to ensure the highest level of preparedness in case of emergency,

•   Carries out regular inspections of firefighting, safety and emergency response equipment/facilities/procedures.
•   Assist in developing and implementing field location emergency response procedures and evacuation plans
•   Supervise on-site  doctors and  medical emergency  response preparation  and implementation;
•   Monitoring and evaluation of health, safety and environmental systems
•   Ensure that operations employees, contractors and site visitors receive HSE inductions for theatre operations;
•   Responsible for preparing written Field HSE reports and statistics on a regular basis (daily, weekly, monthly as required)
•   Reports to the HSE Coordinator.
