Job Description

• A Database Application Developer with the responsibility to provide database and application solution strategy, technical design, architecture and support for carrying out the implementation of enterprise database application development. • He/she works with the leadership of the functional team in assessing requirements and providing technical assistance for architecting, executing and developing the right database architecture.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Responsible for designing, coding and implementing software solutions using modern techniques and Programming language
• Provides high-level database development assistance in creating specific applications for businesses Provides general support on information technology to design, develop, execute and maintain the database application system, applying several RDBMS
• Ensures research and innovation at all levels of the software development process
• Testing sample data-sets, to check that output from the programme works as intended
• Adapting the programme to new requirements, as necessary conducting user-acceptance testing to ensure the programme can be used easily, quickly and accurately
• Writing detailed documentation for the operation of the programme by users and computer operators
• Updating, repairing, modifying and developing existing software and generic applications.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Applicants for this role need a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information technology or a related subject.
• Previous experience in a similar role, as well as additional certification where possible.
• Adequate skills in Database Analysis, Software Programming, SQL Server Reporting Services, Oracle and Microsoft Excel,
• 2+ years’ experience in web and software development
• Demonstrated knowledge of web technologies such as HTMLL, CSS and JavaScript
• Experience working with C++ or PHP or Python.
• Experience working with MS SQL, MySQL, Oracle
• Ability to apply an object-oriented programming language in creating applications
• Experience in creating rich user interface web designs

Job Description

The Technical Advisor for ICT at GIZ Ghana will be tasked with supporting the initiative ‘eskills4girls’ within the TVET component of the Network for Inclusive Economic Development (NIED) to contribute to the programme’s objectives and indicators. Tasks

• Assists in formulating implementation plans, concept notes and ToRs for short-term experts

• Manages the establishment of a Center of Excellence for ICT in the TVET sector
• Supervises curriculum development and implementation of training courses
• Develops and implements corresponding capacity measures to ensure adequate usage of IT equipment
• Identifies and documents demand for external support and assists national and international advisors in carrying out their work
• Develops and maintains working relationships with all important project stakeholders, especially with COTVET and training institutions
• Seeks close cooperation with other team members of PSED’s TVET component
• Builds up a professional network of relevant actors working in the field of training in ICT related fields in Ghana and supports the establishment of a sector skills body for ICT
• Ensures knowledge management; collects, processes and distributes relevant information • Conducts scientific research about all technical aspects of training and actors in Ghana’s ITC sector

Qualification Required & Experience

Your Profile

• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree or comparable qualification in IT or ICT-related studies
• At least seven (7) years of professional experience in the ICT (private) sector
• Proven record of working as trainer or teacher for ICT related trades/subjects (e.g. in-company trainer)
• Knowledge of the Technical Education and Vocational Training system in Ghana would be advantageous
• Strong managerial and organisational competencies
• Ability to work independently and steer activities within the responsibilities assigned to him
• Willingness to travel within Ghana
• Excellent written and oral skills (English Language), fluency of the German Language is an added advantage
