General Description

•   IT Support Specialist is responsible for oversight of IT needs for Africa Lead II, including system installations, maintenance, support and technical advice to client.
The IT Support Specialist is responsible for ensuring that DAI established standards set by the DAI home office are followed and that proprietary project solutions are efficient and cost effective.

Responsibilities also include the oversight of LANs (Local Area Networks) at the various project offices.

•   He/she will ensure that proper back up, anti-virus and disaster recovery procedures are identified and followed and that end users have access to shared files, printers and email.
•   The Office of Information and Management Technology (OIMT) will provide the IT Support Specialist with guidelines and support for System Administration at every level.
•   It is the responsibility of the Information Support Specialist to keep OIMT informed of issues and/or proposed system modifications (hardware and software purchases) via tools provided by OIMT IT Operations team such as request templates, and DAI technical support email address.
•   OIMT will provide IT support specialist with guidelines and responsibilities, daily tasks and other necessary documentation and training.

Qualification Required & Experience

Technical knowledge requirements

•   PC and Server support experience;
•   Knowledge of Windows Server & Windows Client operating systems;
•   Knowledge of Windows network services: AD, DNS, DHCP, Print and file sharing;
•   Experience or basic knowledge of Lotus Notes Client Administration, and replication within a WAN;
•   Knowledge of backup and restore services;
•   Physical and logical LAN and WAN infrastructure principles;
•   Communication equipment and VPN services.

JOB SUMMARY & KEY PRIORITIES:

This position will be responsible for software development for the ICT Challenge project.  The Software Developer, will work closely with the Technology Innovations Manager and Group Manager, Software Development and collaborate with key stakeholders to implement the ICT Challenge project, a USAID initiative focused on providing ICT support to accelerate the adoption of new technologies that will yield food security and nutrition crops.  This individual will use deep knowledge in software design and programming and proven skills in working with software development teams to develop a suite of mobile tools for a project focused on developing a scalable suite of ICT-based services that will enable extension networks, input suppliers, and other value chain players to reach Ghanaian farmers with critical information on new agriculture technologies and promote their adoption and correct use in specific value chains such as maize, rice, sorghum, cassava, yam, and cowpea .

KEY RESULTS:

Work involves partnering closely with the Technology Innovations Manager and Group Manager, Software Development, to configure, design, refine and build suite of mobile tools and deliver against deadlines and internal/external partner requirements.  The Software Developer will be accountable for:

•   Working with program team to develop/interpret technical specifications and designs
•   Translating such specifications into appropriate, high quality and documented programs/applications, on time, for Grameen Foundation
•   Adopting Grameen Foundation development processes, best practice methods, tools and coding guidelines
•   Successfully communicating with the rest of the development team throughout the development process, participate in brain storming sessions on design and implementation specifications, aid in code reviews, and incorporate feedback from code reviews into their own code
•   Attending trainings and participating in knowledge transfer exercises. Where the candidate has superior knowledge, they will be expected to guide and train fellow team members
•   Offering input in planning, brainstorming, specification and resource estimation processes prior to development
•   Assisting in deployment and technical support of developed systems and applications

KEY RESULTS:

This role is accountable for technical aspects of the project related to hardware, support, and training on mobile applications and the technology platform. The Specialist will work closely with the Software Developer and Technology Innovations Manager, to ensure the highest level of customer support and service and deliver against deadlines, service level agreements, and internal/external partner requirements.  He or she will be accountable for:

•   Procuring, configuring, managing, and maintaining all project (excluding IT related) equipment, including

1) Evaluating, testing, and recommending different mobile devices
2) Identifying technology vendors and procuring mobile devices
3) Configuring phones and setting up users and groups in Salesforce;
4) Overseeing equipment repair and maintenance

•   Developing and implementing support processes and systems, including

1) Developing a case management system to track and close support incidents and technical issues;
2) Creating and implementing system for tracking inventory;
3) Creating a system for providing mobile device support in field (i.e. spare phones)
4) Doing remote troubleshooting with end-users, including extension agents and partner staff to resolve equipment and mobile application issues and file bug reports and escalate to software developers as needed

•   Developing reference and training materials on mobile applications and back-end system (based on Salesforce), including reporting, content management, survey builder, and performance management functionalities
•   Configuring back-end client accounts
•   Training clients on the technology platform and extension workers on mobile devices

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

•   Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and execute software application implementations at customer site (strong project management, client management, training, with full implementation lifecycle) with limited supervision

He/She will also have additional role requirements in the incorporation of the following principles to the NTS database: a) data remains consistent across the database; b) data is clearly defined; c) users access data concurrently, in a form that suits their needs; d) there is provision for data security and recovery control (all data should be retrievable in an emergency).

Key Responsibilities

Qualification Required & Experience
