Perseus Mining is a dual listed (Australia, Toronto) gold miner and explorer focused on the West African region. Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited (PMGL) has recently commissioned the world-class Edikan gold project in the Western Region of Ghana.

Edikan Gold Mine (EGM) has a current mining reserve of 3.3M oz of gold from a resource base of 4.3M oz. The Edikan processing facility has been designed as a 5.5Mtpa processing facility with the ability to expand this to 8Mtpa in the future. The plant is capable of producing at a rate of 220-270,000oz gold per annum.

Job Summary

The successful applicant will report to the Senior Mining Engineer and will have the following responsibilities:

•   Record  Mining Operations occurrences and data archiving,
•   Daily inspections of Pits, waste dumps and record and communicate issues for corrective actions,
•   Communicate efficiently mine plans to Operations for implementations, and
•   Coordinate Department safety meetings and reports on safety occurrences.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   University Degree or  Diploma in Mining Engineering – IDMC Blasting and Shift Boss Certificate is desirable
•   Experience in Mine Planning or Short Term Planning.
•   Basic  knowledge in and hands on experience in at least one of Mine Planning CAD software

Job Summary

•   Work closely with the Mine Engineering team to build a Reclamation Plan that ensures concurrent reclamation and meets the agreed closure criteria;

•   Work closely with the Mining Department to ensure adequate topsoil recovery from newly disturbed areas;
•   Participate in the development of the future Final Closure Plan and ensure execution of long term reclamation plans;
•   Develop and implement as needed monitoring program to assess reclamation and closure success;
•   Coordinate with consultants on the development of studies related to reclamation and closure plans as needed.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   BSc. in Environmental Management, Agronomy, forestry management or other science related field such as botany, biology;

Job Title: Jumbo Operator
Department: Underground Mining
Shift: Rotating Shifts/Schedules
Reports To: Shift Boss

Summary

Key duties are to operate Jumbo drilling rigs for mine development and install ground support according to quality specifications safely and efficiently. The Jumbo Operator is also responsible for minimization of secondary breakage and over break and correct installation of ground support systems in accordance to the geotechnical plan

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•   Mark up faces in accordance with geological, statutory, and survey specifications
•   Installation of all ground support, except cable bolts and shotcrete
•   Installation of mine services when required
•   Work with technical and supervisory staff in quality and safety initiatives
•   Complete all tasks at the required rate and to the required standard
•   Compliance to all applicable mine safe work procedures / safe operating procedures
•   Participation in all applicable safety, prestart and shift team meetings
•   Accurate completion of shift reports & / or plods
•   Absolute commitment to safety

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Currently employed in an underground operation as a Jumbo Operator
•   Detailed knowledge of the operation of large jumbos either single or multi-boom
•   Ability to read and understand detailed survey prints and layouts
•   Ability to read and understand designed ground support plans
•   Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge of jumbo rigs
•   Experience with Tamrock 2009 Axera Twin Boom Jumbos will be highly regarded

Language Skills            

•   Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
•   Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills            

•   Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
•   Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
•   Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

•   Current and valid driver’s license required.

Other Skills and Abilities     

•   Advance knowledge and/or experience with the operation of  Jumbos. Previous underground operations experience

Other Qualifications: First aid certificate preferred

Physical Demands:

•   The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
