They are currently looking for a Technical Services Superintendent to come on board and work closely with the Mine Manager to ensure the project continues on its upward trend.

This is an incredible opportuinity for a Technical Services Superinendent looking to challenge themselves both technically and professionally. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for all mine planing and the ongoing development of the mine engineering team. A key focus will be compiling and delivering training programs for nationals and ensuring all LOM, pit optimization and production schedules are in line with budgetary requirements.

Qualification Required & Experience

Your responsibilities will include developing and managing the Mine Engineering teams, managing all mine planning activities, achieveing the financial objectives as defined in the LOM, Supervision of Mine Engineering/Mine Planning personnel and maintaining a constant focus on the business improvement across the entire project.

To be successful in this role you must have:

•   Tertiary qualifications in mining engineering or similar
•   10+ years exposure to working in African remote locations along with an understanding of local cultures
•   5+ years within a senior level role in open pit and hard work mining environments, preferably Gold
•   The ability to manage a team of professionals including mentoring and motivation
•   The right attitude to build and maintain a positive team culture
•   Experience in positively contributing to a strong senior management team
•   English and French language skills preferred

Reporting to the Manager Mining, this senior role will require the successful candidate to participate in development of the survey unit and implement the requisite systems and programs. The successful candidate will actively work with the site HR team to identify, attract, develop, and retain the skills sets required for the success of the Survey Unit of a high performance organization.

Qualification Required & Experience

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Chief Surveyor or Senior Mine Surveyor to put their stamp on what is effectively a greenfield operation. Having worked in a comparable environment, you will bring a wealth of experience in implementing mine surveying systems and programs. The following minimum qualifications and experience will be required:

•   Degree in Mine Survey, Geodetic/Geomatic Engineering or related field from a reputable institution;
•   Minimum of five (5) years’ post qualification work experience in mine surveying field. Experience within the Mining Industry is mandatory;
•   Must demonstrate understanding of computer package based survey systems and be able to interpret and apply laws, rules and regulations governing the survey practices relative to the work situation;
•   Good PC skills and advance computer literacy in Surpac, ACAD, Arc GIS, civil CAD, Calson, etc;
•   Knowledge and understanding of the statutory regulations relevant to safety and the environment for the mining industry;
•   Possession of survey license or membership of a related recognised professional institute will be an added advantage;
•   A strong desire to coach and develop others and to enhance localisation by sharing skills and knowledge;
•   Communication: Fluency in English (written and verbal) is highly desirable.

Purpose of Job:

The Mining Department at the Tarkwa Gold Mine is seeking a dedicated, experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the vacant position of Superintendent – Drill & Blast. The successful candidate will be expected to use his expertise in the supervision of a multi – faceted shift system for the achievement of planned production targets within the constraints of resources and in compliance with mine wide Health & Safety and Environmental requirements. He/She will ensure that in the execution of the shift assignment, management systems, processes, policies and procedures are followed and resources are utilised effectively and efficiently to achieve production targets.

Key responsibilities:

•   Organises personnel and equipment to safely and effectively achieve planned targets. Compiles end of shift reports for the Unit Manager – Drill and Blast.
•   Visits all areas of responsibility and ensure that correct work procedures are followed.
•   Ensures that good mining practices are followed to facilitate effective select mining.
•   Chairs shop floor safety meeting.
•   Monitors the consistency of discipline within area of responsibility to ensure constant application of sanctions and grievances procedures.
•   Ensures staff are effectively trained, developed and supervised.
•   Ensures that all employees including contractors use the appropriate PPE’s
•   Maintains a safe and environmental friendly working environment.
•   Initiates a cost saving practices and productivity improvement of specially assigned projects.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   BSc Mining Engineering or any relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
•   5 years’ experience in similar position well-developed oral & written communication skills (English Proficiency).
•   Medical fitness for the position and environment.
•   Valid First Aid Certificate.
•   Blasting, Shift Boss and Mine Captain Certificates.
•   A valid Ghanaian Driving licence
•   A hands-on approach and be willing to work long hours to obtain the required results.
