Description Of Job

Responsibilities:
The successful applicant will report to the Mechanical Leading Hand and will have the following responsibilities:

•  Assist Mechanics to monitor and effectively maintain installed mechanical equipment
•  Ensure safe working practices within Processing
•  Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the workshop area and other equipment
•  Assist in rebuilding and maintenance of gyratory crusher
•  Assist in providing and maintaining records of time and materials utilised
•  Assist in preparing materials lists, complete and return inspection check sheets
•  Comply with maintenance and service schedules, and report schedule deficiencies

Qualification Required & Experience

•  Must possess Mechanical Engineering I or its equivalent
•  2 years of working experience in a similar role

•  Examine boilers, tanks, and vats to locate defects such as leaks, weak spots and defective sections so that they can be repaired
•  Bolt or arc-weld structures and parts together using wrenches and welding equipment’s
•  Inspect individual components such as tubes, fittings, valves, controls, and auxiliary mechanisms, to locate defects
•  Ensure accurate recording and reporting of safety and environmental irregularities and incidents that occur
•  Take responsibility for ensuring safety and environmental standards are adhered to
•  Assist in the development of knowledge and skills for the mechanical team members
•  Repair and replace defective parts, such as safety valves and regulators, using torches, jacks, caulking hammers, power saws, threading dies, welding equipment and metal working machinery
•  Hold daily toolbox prestart meetings

Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants to fill the position the Senior Shift Supervisor in our Processing Department.

Purpose:
Reporting to the Shift Superintendent, the purpose of this position is to provide safe and efficient operations within the CIP operations, co-ordinate the activities of the shift at Iduapriem Mill and CIP operations for the processing staff.

Specific Duties and Performance Requirements:

•  Maintain close liaisons with the Shift Superintendent and Senior Metallurgist on all aspects of the CIP operations that would impact gold production
•  Ensure all budgeted production targets for the CIP operations are met or exceeded
•  Utilise OCS to optimise plant performance
•  Maintain close liaisons with the Mining Department (particularly the ROM Pad Foreman and Mining Supervisors) on all aspects that affect gold production, i.e. ore blend, machine availability
•  Carry out shift inspections, noting safety and potential production problems
•  Ensure that reagents consumptions are within budget
•  Attend a daily morning production and maintenance meeting to discuss activities for the day
•  Instigate suggested improvements in operational practices
•  Maintain a high standard of housekeeping in all operational areas
•  Shift inspections of the tailing dam, raw water and process water dams
•  Ensure all operational personnel are competent in their area before allowing them to work alone and accountable
•  Co-ordinate shift maintenance ensuring minimal effect to production
•  Co-ordinate, check and set all subordinates workloads and time tables daily

Qualification Required & Experience

Essential Qualification, Job Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

A minimum of four (4) years working experience in the Mining Industry and worked similar position for at least (2) years in gold operations

Applications are invited from suitably qualified applicants to fill the vacant position of SENIOR GEOLOGIST – GRADE CONTROL in our Mining Department.

Purpose:
Reporting to the Geological Superintendent, the purpose of this position is to coordinate and monitor grade control activities.

Specific Duties and Performance Requirements:

•  Ensuring the safety of the grade control crew including contractors doing work for the geology department
•  Planning and organising all in-pit shift grade control activities – this includes, but not limited to drilling, sampling, blast levelling, mark out, tallying and floor cleaning
•  Supervising grade control RC drilling and sampling to ensure that quality is guaranteed during the data gathering stage of the grade control process
•  Ensuring production samples (stockpile & belt) are taken at the agreed specific time intervals
•  Delivery of all field grade control samples (RC, stockpile, face, belt, etc) at the agreed designated sample submission/preparation area
•  Ensuring timely submission of samples to the assay laboratory
•  Supervising the day-to-day (or shift) ore mining to minimize dilution, maximize recovery and prevent ore misclassification/misdirection
•  Shit/daily Reconciliation between the in-pit ore truck tallies and that of the ROM stockpiles
•  Monitoring of the ore stockpiles to ensure that the various grade categories get to their respective fingers
•  Checking the work of Junior Geologists, Spotters and Samplers and ensuring daily update of records occurs correctly
•  Collaborate with the Resource Geologist and Geotechnical Engineer to be effective and efficient
•  Undertake in-pit geological mapping to aid interpretation, modelling and ore perimeter design (ore blocks)
•  As directed by the Superintendent Mine Geologist

Qualification Required & Experience

•  A minimum of two (2) years working experience in open pit mining
•  BSc Degree in Geological Engineering or in Geology or its related field

Other Requirements:

•  Must be knowledgeable in the Tarkwaian geology
•  Proficiency in the usage of Datamine software package will be an added advantage
•  Very excellent interpersonal skills and a team player
•  Must have good communication skills
•  Must have strong ethics and positive attitude to work
•  Must possess a valid Ghanaian driver’s license

The Mining Engineer, reporting to the Senior Mining Engineer will assist in the co-ordination of mining activities of the Mining Department at Perseus (Ghana) Limited, Edikan Gold Mine near Ayanfuri.

•  Gather production information in the form of database and generate appropriate periodic summary from database;
•  Prepare an up-to-date mining production data in a weekly/monthly/quarterly and annual basis with respect to Forecast, Targets, and or Budgets;
Write department minutes at related meeting e.g. Production, and ensure such minutes and other information are filed correctly as well as ensure a proper filing system for easy identification and access of the superiors;
•  Prepare strategic mining plans to achieve PMGL’s goals with regards to Safety, Ore and waste quantities, and eventual gold production;
•  Ensure that data relating to the Contractor are collated, processed and stored appropriately within the department’s systems;
•  Use the mining software package (SURPAC, WHITTLE) to generate various plans of the mine; and
•  Take appropriate measurement on the field or other location as may be required to collect information for subsequent decisions. E.g. time and motion studies, mining face updates and pits inspections etc

Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced persons to apply for the position of: Occupational, Health and Safety Administrator.

The Occupational, Health and Safety Administrator, reporting to the OHS  Manager, will provide administrative and functional support of the OHS Department at Perseus (Ghana) Limited, Edikan Gold Mine near Ayanfuri.

The responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to:-

•  Ensure site OHS Policy and other OHS information (as required) is current, displayed at key locations on site and communicated to the workforce at inductions;
•  Maintain the site safety statistics and utilise for reporting to the OHS Manager and others as may be requested;
•  Work with other Department Managers to capture their specific department OHS hazards, assist in the assessment of risk and identification of risk controls and document the outcomes on an ongoing basis;
•  Facilitate requested Government safety visits to site and ensure relevant personnel make themselves available to the government representative
•  Work with the Security Department to ensure the Visitor’s Induction and General Induction process is adhered to at all times by all personnel on site
•  Conduct OHS training and enter all OHS  training data into the Training Database, including Inductions, First Aid Training, Fire Extinguisher training, Site Driving Permits etc. and file attendance sheets and assessments both in hard copy and electronically
•  Maintain the site safety statistics, analyse incident trends monthly and report any trends in the site monthly report
•  Record incident details in the Incident Report Register and distribute the Register showing outstanding Incident Report Forms to PMGL management at least monthly
•  Assist department managers in incorporating occupational health and safety into their operational health and safety into their operational activities through the use of the OHS department management tools such as Workplace Inspections and Systems Audits
•  Maintain the site Chemical Register and Master MSDS file to ensure both remain current
