The role is specifically responsible to oversee the effective functioning of the Learning & Development Centre in Ghana (Tarkwa), thus the executor of the training strategy for both Tarkwa and Damang Mines. The position is responsible for the effective management of relevant education, training and development systems to ensure it meets operational requirements. Key Responsibilities:

•  Manage the delivery of scheduled programmes in a cost-effective manner
•  Ensure the optimal scheduling and implementation of training programmes to support operational learning and talent development processes
•  Manage the c0-ordination and high level integration of HRD initiatives to leverage learning opportunities and ensure consistency of standards across operations
•  Work closely with management to identify learning opportunities and develop appropriate training content to support Tarkwa and Damang operation plans

•  A minimum of four years experience at middle management level

Main Duties and Responsibilities

•  Identify and correct unsafe work practices or conditions before accident occur, through regular inspection and fostering the safety attitude among the workforce during visits.

•  Assist in ensuring that PPE’s supplied to workmen and other working equipment and tools meet the company’s standards and enforce their use where necessary.

Qualification Required & Experience

•  Must have a Degree or Diploma in Mining Engineering /Mechanical Engineering/ Earth Science or a similar qualification from a recognised institution.
•  Must have a Certificate in Health & Safety.
•  Must have an in-depth understanding and working knowledge of General Safety rules and regulations; especially Underground Safety
•  Must have at least 3 – 5 years working experience with exposure to mining regulations.

Purpose of Role

•  To provide technical support to the mine operations team and oversight to the underground contractors’ mining activities.
•  To follow, and ensure all Contractors compliance to established policies, practices and procedures when completing work assignments.

Key Areas of Responsibility & Duties

1) To assess and assist in the improvement of systems, programs or processes in mine operations

Answers queries and assists Mine Captains in handling  requests related to mine operations which includes problem solving and judgment

•  Monitors contractor equipment availability and assess production priorities based on availability of equipment
•  Provides information to complete summaries of production activities as required

•  Escalates issues requiring knowledge about the broader business impact of decisions. Works with mentor as needed.
•  Assist in preparing reports and completing documentation  related to mine operations

•  Provides assessment of safety and performance outcomes in coordination with the Mine Captains and Mine Managers
•  May mentor or train less experienced employees on operating standards, procedures and methods
•  Other duties as required
2) To provide technical support related to mine operations
•  Addresses queries and assists Mine Captain and Mine Manager in resolving issues for the Contractor, while ensuring service standards are met
•  Ensures Contractors’ compliance with company policy and procedures and regulations in mine operations
•  Provides training, workplace inspection and safety awareness to contractors and CGML Operations staff as needed
Acts as Field Engineer at mine site, providing quality assessment and quality control of the work performed by the Contractors

•  Adheres to all safety and environmental considerations. Wears PPE at all times while in production environment. Is alert and observes, corrects and reports unsafe conditions.
•  Follows operating procedures and complies with all regulatory requirements.

The Engineering Department is seeking to engage the services of a self motivated individual who is knowledgeable in electronics for the position of Engineering Technician – Electrical. The successful applicant will apply knowledge and experience to identify and repair faults on caterpillar generators, Cummins and Perkins engines. He/she will also liaise with other sections within the department to improve service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

•  Execute daily routine work according to policies and procedures within prescribed guidelines with emphasis on quality and quantity of work output
•  Assist in the planning and implementation of an effective maintenance schedule
•  Assist the service team to carry out maintenance on generators and engines
•  Provide guidelines for stocking strategic maintenance parts for generators
•  Apply knowledge of standards, methods and procedures to the work situation
•  Ensure quick response to breakdowns using an effective communication process and delivery on maintenance issues
•  Undertake daily routine inspections, fault tracing and maintenance of equipment
•  Ensure proper maintenance practices and assist supervisor in eliminating wastage
•  Reduce accidents and incidents in the course of performing duties
•  Suggest ways to improve performance in order to meet set targets
•  Perform any other duties that may be assigned by superior

Qualification Required & Experience

Key Requirements:

•  A tertiary qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from a recognised institution
•  At least two (2) years experience in high voltage power and auto electrical works
•  Results-driven individual with ability to multi-task and prioritize
•  Excellent knowledge of standards, methods and procedures of the job
•  Well developed oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with people of diverse cultures and levels
•  Ability to work for long hours and with little supervision
•  Medical fitness for the position and environment
•  Valid Ghanaian driver’s licence and proficiency in driving light vehicles
