Description

Objectives of Programme:

The focus of the programme is on providing support to the production and trade in staple food markets between Ghana and Burkina Faso, and between Nigeria and Niger. The programme will work to enable policies that allow for equitable and efficient regional market development and will aim to tackle the cause of multiple market failures by deploying carefully targeted interventions across the region. The anticipated outcomes of the five year project are: better business models for agricultural production; better business models for agricultural marketing and; agriculture and trade policies and regulations rationalised and improved.

The programme consists of two main activities;

1) A Challenge fund to provide finance to innovative business models in food production and marketing and;
2) A Policy Facility to provide evidence, analysis and advocacy for policy and regulatory reform.

The Project will be based in Accra, Ghana with travel to Burkina Faso, Niger and Nigeria. Anticipated Start Date – October 2013

Applicant will be responsible for the implementation of the livelihood and economic empowerment component of the Family Strengthening Programme;

•   Support the establishment or strengthening of technical vocational education and training (TVET), livelihood and enterprise development opportunities, to youth/caregivers and other participants of the project.
•   The incumbent will provide technical support in the design, monitoring and evaluation of activities aimed at the economic strengthening of households and communities.
•   Additionally, he/she will coordinate, develop and oversee implementation of livelihood/economic empowerment work plans/targets, budgets, and reports.
•   He/she must be able to write winning project proposals, identify and develop partnerships with organisations, training institutions for trainings and around small business development, micro-credit, financial planning and provide timely periodic programme updates and reports for the programme.

Qualification Required & Experience

The successful applicant must:

•   Have a Bachelor’s degree in Community development,Agri-Business Management, Business Administration or any other related field; Entrepreneurship and basic accounting skills will be an added advantage
•   Have at least 5 years practical and relevant working experience and be willing to travel at short notices
•   Have a strong leadership skills and proven experience in small scale business development and management of micro credit facility
•   Possess proven ability in business proposal writing development with little or no supervision

Job Summary

IPA seeks an Evaluation Coordinator who will assist with implementation and evaluation of projects. This position will require extensive travel within and across regions.

The Evaluation Coordinator will work closely with researchers and other field staff to perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to;

•   Plan and design projects ;
•   Create budgets;
•   Manage field staff;
•   Oversee and monitor data collection and survey field work including planning, logistics, hiring, and training;
•   Conduct qualitative research;

•   BA, BSc. or Masters in development economics, or field related to international economic development.
•   At least two years of project management experience. Extensive experience supervising, designing and implementing data collection and/or field work activities, and managing teams of field workers, is preferred.
•   Cultural sensitivity and demonstrated ability to work successfully with diverse constituencies.
•   Strong budgeting and financial management skills.
•   Strong oral and written communications skills in English.

Experience in data management, econometrics, and programming in STATA or SPSS preferred

Duties and Responsibilities:

M&E Coordinators must reflect significant experience in the management of field monitoring, evaluation design, empirical and statistical analysis, environmental compliance, management information systems, information management design and training, program management, and working in challenging political environments.

The candidates must be able to work comfortably with a variety of stakeholders, including USAID and USG representatives, senior-level Government of Ghana officials, NGO representatives, community service organizations, and project participants. Innovative mixes and combinations of technical, research and management specialties and expertise are encouraged.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Ghanaian Citizenship required.
•   At least five (5) – seven (7) years of relevant technical field or evaluation experience in Ghana.

The Peace Corps is a United States federal agency that promotes international peace, friendship and sustainable development by providing trained men and women to serve in local communities in the areas of health, education and agriculture. The agency in Ghana is seeking to hire a highly motivated Pre-Service Training Directors (PSTD) to lead the design and implementation of Pre-Service Training for Peace Corps Trainees at the Kukurantumi Office. This work requires occasional travel, mainly to Kumasi and Accra (30% of the time.)

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The U.S. Peace Corps is an agency that promotes international peace, friendship, and sustainable development by sending trained men and women, Peace Corps Volunteers (PCVs), to serve in countries that have requested assistance. Pre-Service Training (PST) is a 10 to 12-week orientation program that provides PCVs with intensive language, culture, and technical training. The PST Director is responsible for the delivery, management, accounting and operation of all components of PST. The PST Director coordinates with the APCD/Training and reports directly to the DPT. The PSTD is also responsible for:

•   Planning, implementing, monitoring, evaluating, and revising pre-service training programs;
•   Serving as the point of contact for effective communications between staff at the training site and the
main office;
•   Supporting Peace Corps Trainees in emergencies or states of psychological duress, also giving them
feedback on performance issues;
•   Managing contracts with multiple contract holders;
•   Assessing and responding to staff development needs and managing staff activities on a daily basis;
and
•   Budgeting for training events and handling and distributing funds.
