Job Summary

Program Summary:
RI/EW is currently seeking advisors and experts for key positions in the upcoming 5-year USAID Ghana Agricultural Technology Transfer Project (ATT) Project.  The overall goal of the ATT Project is to provide technical assistance and capacity building for increasing the availability of agricultural technologies for smallholder farmers in Northern Ghana to focusing on improved seed technologies, including biotechnology; managing soil fertility; agriculture sector communications and knowledge management tools; strengthening capacity for agricultural research for technology development and transfer; and to strengthen public and private sectors to disseminate such technologies.  The project will focus on maize, rice, and soya and will be closely integrated with other USAID Ghana Feed the Future (FtF) and Government of Ghana’s projects and programs in the seed and soil fertility sectors.

Position Summary:
The ICT Specialist will lead the ICT Component of the project and will provide technical expertise.  S/he will also coordinate closely with the other components of the project (Seed Industry Management, Soil Fertility, and Organization Development)

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

•  Ensure quality control of overall program implementation;
•  Provide technical guidance to increase and improve the information and communication flow along the value chains (including marketing information) by using innovative ICT.
•  Maintain effective communication  and relationship with all the stakeholders for coordination and implementation of the activities and to develop partnership opportunities;
•  Oversee and manage all staff working for the component, including short or long-term consultants;
•  Oversee and ensure quality implementation of teaming partner and other actors involved in the component;
•  Ensure that activities are on track, including developing and implementing solutions as necessary;
•  Providing overall guidance and direction focusing the program team on achieving agreed targets and long-term strategic objectives;
•  Establish and maintain systems for program operations in accordance with RI policies and procedures;
•  Oversee that key program activities are achieved per program budget, timeline and donor requirements;
•  Maintain effective communication with all the stakeholders for coordination and partnership opportunities;
•  Perform other duties as needed.

Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Qualification Required & Experience

Qualifications &Requirements:
This position demands a dynamic individual with a demonstrated ability to achieve results in a demanding and fast paced environment.

•  S/he must have a minimum of MSc Degree in information technology, computer science or related field.
•  Minimum of 7 years’ experience working in ICT in Africa, with preference for work in the agriculture sector.
•  Experience with the application of electronic, digital, mobile phone as well as other mass media technologies to disseminate information to rural populations.
•  Experience in team management
•  Previous experience in West Africa; experience in Ghana is strongly preferred.
•  Fluent English required
•  Excellent diplomatic, interpersonal, and communication skills

•  Demonstrated success strengthening public organizations in agriculture sectors, such as agriculture research institutions and ministries of agriculture.
•  Experience in team management
•  Previous experience in West Africa; experience in Ghana is strongly preferred.
•  Fluent English required
•  Excellent diplomatic, interpersonal, and communication skills

SHOPS builds upon decades of USAID support and leadership in private health sector programming with an emphasis on exploring and advancing private sector innovations.

Job Summary

Detailed Scope of Work:

•  Participate in developing a training plan to reach a range of private sector health provides including: doctors, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, licensed chemical sellers (LCS), LCS counter assistants, and community-based sales agents/distributors
•  Work with training partners to identify appropriate training venues, featured speakers and target providers. Participate in the development of a training module for pharmacists, dispensing technicians/technologists, counter medicine assistants, Licensed Chemical Sellers and their Shop assistants
•  Work with pharmaceutical partners to ensure effective distribution of all needed health commodities such as zinc tablets, condoms, oral contraceptive, etc nationwide especially within the SHOPS target regions
•  Work with mobile health technology experts and mobile phone companies to develop appropriate electronic messaging
•  Coordinate community-level activities and sales efforts with sponsoring nongovernmental organizations and pharmaceutical partners
•  Coordinate zinc promotion activities with other USAID/Ghana bilateral projects involved in child health service delivery in the public sector
•  Work with communication partners in the development of a mass media campaign and interpersonal communication messages and materials
•  Liaise with Ghana Health Service Family Health Division on all aspects of program implementation
•  Monitor the work of research firms contracted to provide caregiver/household surveys, retail audits, provider surveys, focus group discussions, etc
•  Conduct field visits to offer supportive supervision to trained health professionals under the SHOPS/Ghana program
•  Collect sales data from pharmaceutical partners on a quarterly basis
•  Any other duties assigned by your supervisor

Qualification Required & Experience

•  University degree in a health related field
•  At least 2 years of public health program management or implementation experience
•  Thorough understanding of Ghana’s health sector

•  Key Result # 1: Provision of technical guidance and advice for activities and interventions focused on addressing inadequate nutrition and health related practices (approximately 50% of time)
•  Key Result # 2: Provision of technical guidance and advice for activities and interventions focused on addressing inadequate hygiene related practices (approximately 25% of time)
•  Key Result # 3: Direct supervisor for a team of technical health and nutrition staff (approximate 25% of time)

Qualification Required & Experience

Some Qualifications include:

•  Masters Degree in Nutrition or equivalent in a relevant discipline
•  A minimum of five (5) years of significant professional experience in implementing and managing nutrition, hygiene and public health development programs as well as development activities at the community and household level targeted towards the vulnerable populations;
•  Demonstrated technical expertise pertinent to nutrition, hygiene and public health
•  Experiencing managing teams and individuals
•  Experience in capacity building and transfer of skills through designing and leading technical trainings

Job Summary

Summary:
IPA is seeking a Project Manager for immediate hire.  The Project Manager will assist with implementing and evaluating an agricultural program.  The position will be based in Tamale, with frequent travel across the Northern, Upper East and Upper West Regions.

The Project Manager will manage survey fieldwork for the project; including planning, logistics, hiring, training, supervising daily survey activities, and monitoring.  The Project Manager will also maintain records; including survey tracking, surveyor attendance and project expenses.

•  They will assist with project budgets, project design and planning, as well as manage relations with partner organizations.
•  The Project Manager will be responsible for maintaining high quality data collection and will report to Project Associates.  Employment will be for an initial one year period, with the possibility of an extension contingent on employee performance and the project being approved for continuation.

Qualification Required & Experience

The Project Manager must be able to independently manage a survey team in the field and contribute to the design and planning of the research projects. IPA is seeking candidates who meet the following criteria:

•  A 4-year degree from a recognized university
•  Knowledge of research methods
•  Strong math skills
•  Takes initiative and demonstrates good judgment in the field
•  Highly personable and able to work effectively with supervisors, the survey team and representatives from partner organizations.
