MALARIA CONSORTIUM
Reports to: Chief of Party (NetWorks Ghana)

Job Purpose:
To provide high quality technical leadership, co-ordination and support to a nationwide programme of sustaining high LLIN coverage and use.

Key roles and responsibilities:

•  Provide leadership and oversee strategy related to the distribution of long-lasting insecticidal nets (LLINs) through selected channels including the strengthening of a private/commercial sector
•  Provide the project, NMCP/MoH and partners with high quality technical advice and support related to LLIN continuous distribution
•  Support capacity development for the National Malaria Control Programme in LLIN continuous distributions:
Provide assistance to the NMCP for the development of National guidelines on LLIN continuous distribution planning and management

2)  Work with the M&E team to provide support and technical advice to the NMCP to monitor and evaluate effectiveness of LLIN continuous distributions

•  Ensure that all project activities are technically sound and consistent with best practices and relevant to the specific malaria epidemiology of Ghana
•  Oversee training and orientation needs to assure quality improvement measures and the continuous monitoring of programme effectiveness
•  Co-ordinate with the NMCP and provide technical assistance in project related areas
•  Represent NetWorks at technical fora related to LLIN distribution and integrated vector control

Travel: Position will include frequent travels throughout Ghana

Qualification Required & Experience

Person Specification:

•  Holds at least a Master’s degree in Health or Social Sciences or a related advanced degree relevant to the field of health, malaria or epidemiology
•  Significant experience in malaria prevention and control programmes especially in the distribution of LLINs
•  Possess substantial experience in designing, implementing and managing complex health projects in developing countries
•  Demonstrates strong management and technical experience
•  Has excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
•  Is able to collaborate with a range of partners in a way that leads to technically sound and productive malaria control interventions
•  Experience with USAID and PMI initiatives is an advantage

Job Summary
Purpose of the Position:
The Community mobilisation and institutions Coordinator is responsible for the establishment and general administration of the governance structure of the Millennium Village. He/She will work closely with community leaders, decentralised government departments, relevant institutions at the district and regional level and other team members to facilitate the effective implementation of the project and that sustainable relationships are attained. The incumbent should build strong relationships with the community members and other relevant institutions with a focus on impact, results and community ownership of all empowerment processes. The overall goal of the position is to assist the village in achieving the MDGs.

The Community Mobilization and institutions Coordinator will report directly to the Team leader.  As well, the incumbent will liaise with appropriate Millennium Village Regional specialists
Responsibilities/Duties:

•  Help the sector teams in their efforts to align MVP implementation with the decentralized government systems of Ghana.
•  Develop and build strong partnerships with partners at district and regional levels.
•  Working closely with the Team leader, build frameworks for collaborations with government, non-government and private sector partners.
•  Sensitization and mobilization of the community to participate in project activities.
•  Organize and facilitate appropriate training programs for the community and the committees.
•  The training of village-level governance, the proxy power, leadership and community mobilization;
•  Work with committees within the community (e.g. in the field of agriculture, primary health care, infrastructure), the planning and implementation of interventions to achieve the Millennium Development Goals;

Scope Of Work
Short Term Technical Assistant – Business Development Services

Background
CHF  International  has  been  awarded  a  three  year  grant  to  implement  the  Youth  Engagement  in  Service Delivery (YES) program. The  program  will  build  the  capacity  of  local  youth  development  organisations  and empower  youth  in  urban  settings  by  employing  young  people  in  Accra, Ghana, in  the  solid  waste  sector.

The  YES  program  has  three  principal  objectives:

•  onduct  youth – inclusive  market  analysis  of  the  solid waste  management  sector  and  facilitate  participatory  program  design  process;
•  build  the  capacity  of  the value  chain  actors  and  public  and  private  sector  providers  to  improve  the  performance, and  service  delivery of  the  SWM  sector  through  a  youth  focused  lens; and
•  build  the  capacity  of  local  providers  to  offer  or  link youth  to  services  supporting  their  role  within  the  SWM  sector.

To  achieve  the  above  objectives, a  value  chain  analysis  of  the  solid  waste  management  sector  was  conducted  to  identify  existing  and  potential  jobs, skills  and  value  addition  opportunities  informed by  the demands  of  the  job  market  and  the  real  interest  of  youth(market  based)  in  the  sector.

At  the  end  of  the  analysis, four  value  chains  in  the  solid  waste  management  sector; organic  compost, e-waste, ferrous  metals  and  thin  film  plastics  were  selected.

As part of the project implementation, a number of solid waste value addition facilities have been constructed within the project communities (Nima, Avenor and Ga-Mashie) to create employment for the youth. The facilities are:

•  Trashy Centers – for the production of thin film fashion accessories
•  Buyback Centers – for the buying of thin film plastic waste from the communities for sale to recycling companies
•  Compost Centers – for the composting of organic waste (food waste)

Objective
CHF International Ghana is calling for applications from individuals to assist in the monitoring and tracking of beneficiary youth of the YES Project providing them with technical advice on how to improve and sustain their business activities.

Responsibilities
The qualified Individual will be required to:

•  With the help of YES Project implementing partners, locate and determine how many  of YES Project beneficiaries trained in  Mobile phone repairs and beads making are on the field using the skills acquired;
•  Assess the competence levels of these youth, identify gaps and challenges confronting these youth and offer the needed technical assistance;
•  Assist in providing technical guidance to overcome the challenges identified and enhance the business activities of the identified beneficiaries in mobile phone repairs and beads making;
•  Provide monitoring assistance to Access to Life Foundation (a partner) recruited by CHF International to establish 500 waste management related businesses in the Accra metropolis; and
•  Provide a concise report of the status of youth beneficiaries monitored, and how your engagement has contributed to the entrepreneurial development of these youth.

Timeline
This exercise shall cover a period of 3 months, specifically commencing in August and ending in November 2012.

Description Of Job

ActionAid Ghana (AAG) is looking to employ experienced and self-motivated individuals to fill the above vacancy on three (3) year renewable contract basis.

Duty Station: Tamale – Northern Region

Job Summary:

Reporting to the Local Rights Programme Manager, the Sponsorship Officer is responsible for coordinating sponsorship activities with partner institutions and communities to meet the standards of the Child sponsorship objectives.

Job Circumstance: The role involves very frequent travel within Ghana, especially to sponsorship communities Basic Salary: GHS 931.29 i.e (Band 3; Step 1)

Qualification Required & Experience

Competencies:
Knowledge:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences. A strong background in statistics, marketing and ability to speak a local language are advantageous. The candidate must also have 2 years’ experience in sponsorship work

Job Summary:
Reporting to the Head of Programmes, the Programme Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Upper West Local Rights Programme (UWLRP).

This includes the management of programmes and projects, human, material and financial resources; providing leadership; supporting the team of staff to be able to deliver on programme objectives and providing technical support to partner institutions and community allies.

Job Circumstances: The role involves very frequent within Ghana Basic Salary: GHS 2,281.07 i.e (Band 5; Step 3)

Qualification Required & Experience

Competencies:
Knowledge:

•  Master’s Degree in the Social Sciences + 5 years relevant experience, OR
•  A thorough understanding of HRBA and cultural issues in the Upper West Region are key and ability to speak a local language is an advantage
