YES-Ghana is leading on the awareness creation, sensitization & mobilisation, and also enrolment of eligible youth onto the program.

Overall Purpose:

YES-Ghana is seeking a Field Officer who will be required to promote the project to young people in the target group through various awareness creation events in order to sensitize and recruit participants for a training programme on technical and non-technical construction skills. Led by a field supervisor, they will be the first point of contact for all youth in Kumasi and its surrounding communities who are interested in the project. With the support of Field Assistants, he/she will be responsible for screening and interviewing applicants wishing to be enrolled onto the programme. The Field Officer will also be maintaining records of all participants using a Participant Management Database. The Field Officer reports to the Project Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Operations / Programmes

•   Promote the project to youths in target group through various awareness creation activities such as undertaking community outreach programs and organising events to recruit participants to the training programme.
•   Ensure that recruitment of participants is gender-sensitive, and that a significant proportion of youth recruited to the programme are women.
•   Led by the Field Supervisor, act as the first point of contact to all youths expressing interest in the programme
Data entry, data management and record-keeping
•   Screen and interview applicants to assess their eligibility to be enrolled onto the project.
•   Collect baseline data from participants though surveys and interviews.
•   Maintain accurate records of participant details using both paper records and data entry into the Participant Management Database.
•   File and manage filling systems of all field and participant log forms completed.
Internal and external communications
•   Liaise with partner organisations to refer participants to their services.
•   Build relationships with stakeholders who could refer participants to the programme.
•   Manage a small team of Field Assistants and a Hub Training Assistant.
•   Assist Field Supervisor in reporting to Project Manager on achievements of targets and any concerns arising

Other

•   Together with the team monitor training activities as may be required and report to Training & capacity Building Manager.
•   Perform other duties as may be assigned by the Field Supervisor or Project Manager.

Qualification Required & Experience

Experience

•   Experience in undertaking community work and/or youth-focussed activities, gained either through professional employment or volunteering (for example with a youth group, school, church group or local community centre).
•   Experience in mobilising young people highly desired.
•   Field research experience desirable, including conducting surveys and interviews.
•   Experience in maintaining accurate project records, data entry or updating electronic databases would be a plus.

Skills & Personal Attributes

•   Strong communication, interpersonal and people management skills.
•   Skills and commitment in building rapport with youth participants including ability to motivate others, as well as patience and empathy for marginalised youth from disadvantaged communities.
•   Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with subordinates, other staff, project participants and partners, as well as other stakeholders.
•   Self-motivated, ability to take initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
•   Resourceful and able to deal with new or difficult situations, with good decision-making skills and sound judgement in resolving issues and problems.
•   Good organisation and time management skills, confident managing multiple tasks at a time.
•   Numerate and IT literate, with ability to use a complex Participant Management Database.
•   Excellent attention to detail, high degree of accuracy and good information management skills.
•   Fluency in English and Twi.
•   Extensive knowledge of the local operating environment and familiarity with a variety of local communities in Kumasi and its surrounding communities.
•   Willing to travel to different communities within in and around Kumasi.
•   A flexible approach to work – work at evenings and weekends may be required.

Overall Purpose:

YES-Ghana is seeking Training Assistants to provide support to a team of lead Trainers in Kumasi and its environs, who will deliver a curriculum of activities to groups of young people enrolled on the programme. The Assistants will help Trainers to prepare and deliver all activities, provide support during group work and offer help to youth participants as they work through independent tasks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Session preparation

•   Prepare training materials before each session starts (making photocopies, setting out materials, pens and paper on tables, writing instructions on flipcharts).
•   Ensure that all training equipment is available and set up ready for the lead Trainer to start activities (such as a projector screen).
•   Arrange classrooms and outdoor training spaces ready for group activities.

Learning support

•   Help participants to start and work through tasks set by the lead Trainer (individuals or small groups).
•   Repeat and provide clear explanations of trainer instructions for participants who are unclear.
•   Occasionally facilitate group activities with support from the lead Trainer.

Behaviour management

•   Support the lead Trainer with managing behaviour during session delivery.
•   Reinforce the Training Code of Conduct to participants when necessary.
•   Encourage participants to remain engaged in the activities and tasks set.
Other
•   With the help of the Trainer, administer participants’ attendance registers and any other records that youth participants may be required to provide.

The USAID AgNRM project seeks to provide a scalable, integrated landscape approach that will support sustainable economic development and rural livelihoods, increase nutrition and climate change adaptation, and strengthen Northern Ghana’s natural resources.

Position Summary:

•   The NRM/MUS Manager will play a critical supporting role to the DCOP in meeting project outcomes related to strengthening environmental stewardship in Northern Ghana, including; strengthening Community Resource Management Areas (CREMAs), conservation of selected watersheds and biodiversity corridors, and promoting transboundary solutions and ecosystem services. This position will also lead and integrate Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) and Multiple-Use Water Services (MUS) project activities into the above efforts. This position will report directly to the DCOP.

Essential Repsonsibilites:

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

•   Assist the DCOP in developing work plans and meeting project targets related to strengthening environmental stewardship in selected areas in Northern Ghana.
•   Promote Community Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) by building on the existing CREMA and Farmer Managed Natural Regeneration (FMNR) models in Northern Ghana.
•   Oversee, implement and integrate project WASH and MUS activities that increase water availability for domestic and agricultural purposes while conserving and protecting the natural resource base with other project activities.
•   Develop and implement a participatory, community-based, approach to landscape-level watershed management.
•   In collaboration with the DCOP, identify and assist with community and staff trainings.
•   Implement project site level implementation of NRM and WASH/MUS project activities. This will require local travel.
•   Identify strong local partners to assist in the implementation of WASH/MUS project activities and supervise related grants.
•   Responsible for managing the project’s USAID environmental compliance including project grants.
•   Assist in coordinating inputs and activities of partners such as TechnoServe, NCRC and CECOTAPS.
•   Assist the DCOP in writing project reports as necessary.
•   Anticipate challenges in project implementation and identify solutions.
•   Assist in coordinating M&E inputs from field offices as needed. Ensure/verify data quality.
•   Other duties as assigned.

Qualification Required & Experience

Education:

•   Minimum of MSc degree in NRM or related fields (or equivalent with additional professional experience).

Experience:

•   Minimum five years of professional experience in building relations with rural communities through the extension of technologies, participatory planning, training and monitoring.
•   Experience in building capacity of public agency personnel to more effectively meet the requirements of their position.
•   Protected area management experience highly desired.
•   Experience working with local and international NGOs in Northern Ghana is a plus;

Skills:

•   Strong skills in technical knowledge of NRM, small-scale irrigation technologies, household gardens and water use systems in Northern Ghana.

POSITION SUMMARY:

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:

•   Guide collation of data that measure progress, track effectiveness, and provide continuous assessment of progress toward program targets and benchmarks;
•   Consult with Winrock Home Office Grants/Award department for sub-grant approval, reporting and technical guidance;
•   Monitor the grants program budget and manage effective allocation of the grants budget to determine appropriate grant amounts;
•   Collaborate with the USAID AgNRM Finance & Administration team for smooth disbursement of fund advances and final settlement; facilitate timely input to the AgNRM accounting system;
•   Coordinate with the COP and Monitoring and Evaluation team to ensure grants meet environmental compliance under the USAID AgNRM;
•   Prepare periodic reports for performance reporting;
•   Other duties as assigned.

Qualification Required & Experience

Education:

•   Minimum of a Masters of Business Administration in Finance, Accounting or related fields (or equivalent with additional professional experience).

Experience:

•   Minimum five years of professional experience in grant management.
•   Demonstrated success using grants to support project objectives in coordination with project technical managers.
•   Experience working with communities, government entities, and NGOs.
•   USAID experience highly desired.
•   Experience in the NRM sector and NGOs in Northern Ghana is a plus.

Skills:

•   Strong skills in monitoring grant milestones and payments.
•   Fluency in English is required.

•   The Government of the Republic of Ghana has received financing from the African Development Bank in the amount of UA 45.0 minion in loan and UA 25.0 million in grant towards the cost of the Development of Skills for Industry Project (DSIP). It is intended that part of the agreed amount for this loan will be applied to eligible payments under the contract for the engagement of a short term individual Consultant
•   The Ministry of Education/Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training now wishes to recruit an M&E Officer for the DSIP.COTVET invites individual consultants to express their interest in the provision of services of the said Technical Assistance to serve as a Consultant.

Job Purpose:

•   The M&E Officer will provide support 10 the Head of M&E in all aspects related to monitoring and evaluation activities with the purpose to effectively implement and co-ordinate the Project Support Units M&E System.
•   He/She reports to the Head of M&E Division.

Scope of Work/Key Responsibilities for the Consultant:

The M&E Officer will work under the direct supervision of the Head of M&E and carry out any other project tasks as assigned by the Project Coordinator

The M&E Officer will work very closely with the entire project team to accomplish the following tasks:

•   Contribute to the developement/improvement of M&E system for each of programme components.
•   Assist the Project Co-ordinator in the development of Annual Work Plans and Budgets Develop the Annual Work Plans and Budgets
•   Contribute to the identification and designing of performance questions, key indicators and formats for monitoring.
•   Carry out field monitoring trips on a regular basis, including collection of M&E performance indicators and data entering into the M&E database,
•   Lead in the preparation of quarterly, half yearly, annuals reports, completion and other ad-hoc reports.
•   Contribute to the documentation and collection of information related to case studies and special researches.
•   Assist as required in external monitoring, review and evaluation mission visiting the Project sites.
•   Assist in constantly reviewing the required M&E tools to timely measure inputs, outputs and outcomes (such as surveys, tracer studies etc…,)
•   Assist in updating the Operational Manual throughout the Project life, to maintain a valid ‘alive’ document.
•   Assist in co-ordinating with other PSU team members to ensure timely and adequate response to flags triggered through the Project beneficiaries and other stakeholders.
•   Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly and annual reports that reflects an overall assessment of the Project and provides adequate recommendations to resolve issues as they arise; as well as develop ad hoc reports as needs arise.
•   Participate in the Bank’s supervision of the Project and assist in producing quarterly and annual implementation progress reports, and the Implementation Completion Report
•   Assist in checking that monitoring data are discussed in the appropriate forum and in a timely fashion in terms of implications for future actions. If necessary, create such discussion forums to fill any gaps.
•   Assist in guiding and supervising the implementation of special surveys etc. Required for evaluating Project effects and impacts.
•   Carry out any additional related tasks as assigned by the Project Co-ordinator.

The Consultancy period will be twelve (12) months and renewable for six (6″) months based on performance

Qualification Required & Experience

He/She must have the following qualifications and experience:

•   Graduate degree in economic/ finance/ administration/ sociology/development studies or in any related field.
•   Must have at least 5 years experience in Monitoring & Evaluation of donor-funded projects.
•   Working experience in the Ghanaian business environment, and networking, data gathering and data analysis should be supported with documents as evidence.
•   Extensive experience in monitoring and evaluation of an AfDB Education Project or other donor funded projects including data Collection and analysis.
•   Computer skills in applicable fields especially on data analysis packages.
•   Ability and willingness to travel throughout Ghana
•   Strong analytical and communication skills.
•   Willingness to perform field visits and to interview Project beneficiaries.
•   Excellent interpersonal skills and team player.
•   Proficiency in using office suits (such as Microsoft Office and Open Office)
•   Fluent in written and oral communication in English.
•   Ability to work in multinational environment and with multiple external parties.
