Key Responsibilities

• The Provost is the Academic and Administrative Head of the College and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor for providing leadership to the College, maintaining and promoting the efficiency and good order of the College in accordance with policies and procedures prescribed by the University Law, 1992 (PNDCL 278) and Statutes and as may be determined from time to time by the University Council, the Academic Board and the College Board.

Term of Office

A Provost shall hold office for a period of three years (full time) and shall be eligible, upon completion, for re-appointment subject to favourable recommendations from Appointment and Promotions Board for a second consecutive term only.

Qualification Required & Experience

• Applicants must be internationally acclaimed scholars of professorial status. They must be individuals of stature and integrity with strong leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, capable of executing the responsibilities outlined above. They must also possess a terminal degree (PhD) in a relevant discipline with over ten (10) years working experience in a reputable university or related academic institution.
• For applicants seeking appointment as Provost at the College of Distance Education (CODE), involvement in the management and administration of distance learning will be an advantage.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Oversees the work of the mechanics/drivers and ensure monthly repairs.
• Draws up plans for routine maintenance of vehicles and recommends for procurement of essential spare parts and vehicle accessories.
• Receives and handles transport requests from all departments/ schools/faculties of the University.
• Draws up charts/programmes for all transport requests.
• Schedules vehicles and drivers for official assignments.
• Manages drivers’ leave and makes alternative arrangements in the event that a driver is relieved or on assignment outside.
• Plans for renewal of documents of all University vehicles.
• Sources for additional transport for field trips and clinicals where necessary.
• Analyzes log books and fuel utilization of vehicles and produce relevant reports for management decision.
• Organize vehicle checks.
• Assists in the formulation of transport policy.
• Performs any other duties related to transport management assigned by University management from time to time.

Qualification Required & Experience

Candidates seeking appointment to this position must:

• possess Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Auto) or an equivalent professional qualification
• have a minimum of two years post qualification experience preferably in an analogous institution
• professional certificate in Transport and Logistics Management will be an advantage
• has managed university/analogous institution Transport Section for at least five years
• be able to demonstrate adequate working knowledge of the University system
• Membership of relevant Associations will be an added advantage.

• Develop emergency procedures and incident responses.

• Provide university-wide leadership and direction in all areas of security, loss control, security best practices and security programmes including strategic planning and campus-wide collaboration.
• Collaborate with university administration and departments and external groups to effectively resolve security related issues
• Monitor security conditions and conduct ongoing analysis of data received from both external and internal sources, and advise administration on appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
• Develop and implement a security training strategy for the university community and ensures appropriate steps are taken to ensure university-wide security compliance
• Provide frequent communications to the university community concerning security
• Oversee and provide direction for major security-related projects and physical security technologies including but not limited to: various card key access systems, alarm systems, video surveillance systems, security services, IT and data security systems and various other related systems
• Participate and provide leadership on various university-wide committees, board and process improvement teams, acting in an advisory capacity
• Provide college-wide guidance regarding “best practice” business security standards, solutions, and guidance to maintain a secure environment for the protection of personnel, property, and information.

Qualification Required & Experience

Candidates seeking appointment to this position must:

• Possess Master’s degree in Peace and Security or an equivalent professional qualification.
• Have a minimum of five years relevant experience as an officer in the security service.
• Be able to demonstrate adequate working knowledge of the University system.

(Attainment of the rank of Captain in the army or Deputy Superintendent in the police service will be an advantage)

Key Responsibilities

• Establish and reinforce academic policies and procedures to ensure quality pf academic offerings

• A PhD or Terminal Degree required
