Job Vacancy For Date Centre Manager



Responsible for managing and maintaining the Company’s network/server infrastructure architecture, security, storage, backup and recovery and business continuity strategies as well as data communications/telecommunications systems to ensure secured, efficient and effective server environment at all operational areas and maintain 100% uptime.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

IT Strategy & Policy Development

•   Participate in the development of strategy/business plan for the Technology Department and monitor its implementation.
•   Provide input in the development of policies, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work plan and other support systems including monitoring mechanisms in managing the Technology Department of the Company to achieve targeted objectives.
•   Responsible for implementing approved Information Systems Security policies to ensure maximum protection of the Company’s ICT systems.

Data Centre Operations & Management

•   Responsible for the effective and efficient management of the Company’s Data Centre technology systems to ensure that high level customer satisfaction is maintained for all data centre IT services.
•   Manage and coordinate all activities/services of the Data Centre including oversight responsibility for IT project portfolios and ongoing incident response management for supported systems within the Company’s operational areas.
•   Manage and coordinate the lifecycle of all server and storage infrastructure architecture, business continuity and service restoration strategies for remote access services and financial systems platforms.
•   Liaise with the Technology Team to create and maintain the governance processes of the Company’s infrastructure architecture, data centre, telecommunications, networks, communications systems and client business.
•   Oversee the installation and configuration of hardware, software and other peripherals in an efficient and effective manner to facilitate business operations at the Data Centre.
•   Review, analyse and evaluate the current state of the Company’s Data Centre architecture and services against firm goals/objectives and recommend new operational initiatives/technologies for approval and implementation to meet client/customer changing/emerging needs.
•   Participate in the design, development and implementation of enterprise-wide disaster recovery and business continuity plans for the Company.
•   Responsible for defining requirements for new technology implementations and communicate them to key business stakeholders relevant to the Company’s operations.
•   Assess and communicate risks associated with technology-related investments and purchases at the Data Centre.

Monitoring & Evaluation

•   Monitor the implementation of approved security measures at the Data Centre and update appropriate security measures for servers, network and services to facilitate the operations of the Company.
•   Monitor to ensure that the Company’s Data Centre operates on a very high standard with 100% availability, reliability and maintainability of services.
•   Responsible for monitoring all client/customer server environments to ensure secured and operational data centre infrastructure as well as maintain excellent (99.999%) uptime.
•   Monitor to ensure a continuous proactive performance feedback and investigate all data centre related issues and recommend corrective actions for the review of data process compliance and improvement in technology.
•   Responsible for monitoring network/server performance and provide performance statistics /reports to develop strategies for maintaining network/IT infrastructure.
•   Monitor to ensure strict adherence to all data centre standards in line with approved guidelines/principles and international best practices.
•   Implement and monitor Service Level Agreements (SLA) in all areas of the Company’s operations to ensure high system availability by Service Providers.
•   Monitor to ensure that the Company is protected against IT intrusion and other attacks e.g. illegal database updates, viruses, etc.
•   Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for technology spending and initiatives at the Data Centre.

Information & Reporting

•   Stay abreast with legislations, rules/regulations, new and emerging developments in the IT sector to enhance IT data centre projects and infrastructure to facilitate the operations of the Company.
•   Conduct research to remain up-to-date and knowledgeable in industry trends and emerging technologies in anticipation of new business processes and system alterations.
•   Manage comprehensive database to track and monitor all services rendered by the Company for easy retrieval and accessibility of data/information.
•   Prepare monthly, quarterly and periodic reports on all data centre operations/activities for Chief Technology Officer’s perusal.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   Master’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science/Engineering or related field.
•   Membership of a recognized professional body in IT.
•   Seven (7) years relevant working experience with at least 3 years in management position.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED

•   Extensive knowledge of data processing, hardware platforms, enterprise software applications and outsourced systems, including all of the following: VMware VSphere, Advanced storage management Cisco UCS server platform and data centre management.
•   Good knowledge of Cisco systems routers/switches, co-location vendor management, systems monitoring and security practices.
•   Experience in related IT disciplines, such as network engineering, database administration, computer operations and production support.
•   Extensive knowledge and understanding of current network hardware, protocols and standards.
•   Experience in application support with proven knowledge in IT infrastructure planning and development.
•   Good knowledge/understanding of data and telecommunication systems.
•   Good knowledge and understanding of databases.
•   Considerable knowledge/understanding of various aspects of ICT infrastructure.
•   Well-developed strategic orientation with competitive awareness and benchmarking.
•   Good knowledge/understanding of operating and security systems.
•   Strong project management skills.
•   Excellent analytical skills.
•   Excellent communication and presentation skills.
•   Strong managerial, coaching and interpersonal skills in a "team" setting.
