Job Vacancy For Senior Policy/Institutional Development Specialist At Chemonics International



Chemonics International, a U.S. based international development consulting firm, seeks a senior policy/institutional development specialist for the five year, USAID/Ghana funded Ghana Feed the Future Agriculture Support Policy project, designed to increase food security and improve nutrition and health. The project will be based in Accra, Ghana. We are looking for individuals who have a passion for making a difference in the lives of people around the world.

Responsibilities include:

•  Provide leadership and management to institutional development activities in public and private sector entities at various stages of the policy process
•  Identify issues and risks related to project implementation and adjust project accordingly
•  Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with government officials, partner organizations, and international development research agencies
•  Coordinate multiple partners with varied interests and goals

Qualification Required & Experience

•  Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in the area of agricultural or rural policy analysis, as well as demonstrated experience in policy analysis and institution building; working with the private sector, public sector, and civil society organizations.
•  Master’s degree in international development, public administration or related field
•  Experience working in human and institutional capacity building of public and private sector entities, particularly in policy analysis and evidence-based policy making
•  Experience with project activity design, development, and implementation
•  Successful experience coordinating complimentary activities among a wide range of actors within the same development goal
•  Strong understanding if Ghanaian higher education and research organizations
•  Experience in activities aimed at increasing political support and understanding of governance systems in the Ghanaian context
•  Experience working with grant making organizations
•  Demonstrated supervisory experience
•  Financial management experience, including budgeting; tracking, reporting and accounting; and procurement
•  Strong written and oral communication skills
•  Experience working in West Africa, Ghana preferred
•  Fluent English language capability
