Role Purpose

We are looking for a Legal Manager to:

•   To provide legal support to the business to achieve team targets and corporate goals in a timely and professional manner.
•   To provide general legal advice and bring commercial outlook to the law.
•   To liase with the Regional Legal Counsel to provide  a legal strategy for the business.

Key Responsibilities

You will drive and be the key owner to the following responsibilities:

•   Responsible for the overall management of the legal department
•   Analyse cases/issues affecting the company and advise on strategy – settlement, litigation or ADR as the case might require.
•   Oversee the management and reporting of disputes and litigation
•   Oversee the management of relationships with external counsel
•   Preparation and management of the legal budget
•   Ensuring legal protection of company assets
•   Ensuring that the business is advised of legislative developments that impact it
•   Provide timely legal opinions (and where necessary, procure external legal opinions) to the business to facilitate decision making
•   Provide legal support to the Human Resource Department
•   Provide legal support to the regulatory department
•   Ensure the existence and operation of an effective and efficient contract process
•   Ensure timely and complete performance of company secretarial duties
•   Ensure the performance of proper due deligence in important transactions involving the company
•   Liaise with regional and group legal counsel on the protection of the company’s intellectual property
•   Provide reports and information to regional and group legal counsel as required
•   Oversee the drafting and reviewing of contracts and documents on transactions affecting the business and participating in meetings and negotiations (where necessary) to ensure minimal exposure by the company to external parties.

Qualification Required & Experience

•   A Law Degree
•   Qualifying certificate in Law, Enrollment in Roll of lawyers
•   At least 8 years of Post-Qualification work Experience
