Job Vacancy For Head of Technical – Non Life Insurance



Job Objective

• To provide technical and secretarial support to the General Insurance Council to ensure the council and its comittees deliver efficiently and effectively on their constitutional mandate

Duties and Responsibilties

Must have ability to:

• Undertake research on a wide range of technical and sales/marketing issues in collaboration with the relevant technical committees and produce detailed research and reports on various general insurance products to assist in organising seminars/training in areas of need
• Initiate new thinking and programmes to advance insurance penetration and development in Ghana and constantly recommend innovative ways, taking into account best practices in other jurisdictions that can support and facilitate the General Insurance Council's decisions on business growth and development
• Produce monthly, quarterly and annual reports on the activities of the General Insurance Council and its technical committees
• Support the generation of industry data/information relating to general insurance companies and the general insurance sector for the Ghana Insurance Industry database (GIID) and for any publications / periodicals that the GIA would introduce in the future
• Play leading role in the organisation of all projects and activities of the sector and produce timely and comprehensive reports on outcomes of seminars and workshops and promotional activities relating to general insurance business
• Coordinate decisions of the General Insurance Council towards enhancing technical cooperation among members
• Ensure the dissemination of underwriting and claims standards that the General Insurance Council comes up with throughout the industry
• Liaise with member companies to provide information on legistlative and statutory impediments to profitable operations and growth of the industry as an input to the General Councils decisions and recommendations to the Board
• Setup an effective monitoring system to determine breaches to fair trade practices and market practice rules and regulations
• serve as ex-ffocio member/secretary to the General Insurance Council and the executives of the expanded General Insurance Technical Committees on general insurance products
• Participate in media engagements and other public education programme relating to the General insurance sector
• Contribute to the Association's efforts at developing effective and innovative ways of generating extra income aside subscriptions
• Any other duties assigned by the Board, General Insurance Council and the CEO

Qualification Required & Experience

• A first degree preferably in a business related discipline
• ACII, WAII, Advance Diploma from GIC or any relevant technical qualification in insurance

Experience

• 8 years of working experience in the insurance industry 5 of which must be in a managerial position. The candidate must have strong interest and capacity in research and in fresh thinking / innovation in the general insurance sector
