Title: Junior Officer, Assaying
Reports To: Principal Officer, Technical
Job Summary: Responsible for handling samples, preparing materials for testing, and assisting with routine procedures to ensure smooth laboratory operations.
Key Responsibilities:
• Receive and label gold and metal samples, ensuring proper documentation.
• Prepare samples for testing by crushing, grinding, or sieving as required.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of laboratory equipment and workspaces.
• Measure and weigh samples accurately using scales and other instruments.
• Assist with mixing chemical solutions following safety protocols to support testing processes.
• Clean and calibrate laboratory equipment regularly to ensure operational efficiency.
• Ensure proper storage of samples and chemicals according to laboratory policies.
• Ensure proper disposal of waste and chemicals from the laboratory.
• Adhere to health, safety, and environmental regulations while handling chemicals and samples.
Qualification Required & Experience
Skills and Qualification Requirements:
• WASSCE (General Science) or STEM.
• Basic knowledge of assay techniques such as sample preparation and chemical handling.
• Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as scales, crushers, and grinders.
• Good communication skills for reporting results and collaborating with supervisors.
• Ability to follow instructions carefully and work efficiently under supervision.
• High level of integrity and professionalism in handling sensitive materials.
