Galiano Gold Inc. is a dual-listed (NYSE: TSX) mining company focused on exploration, development, and operations. Its subsidiary, Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd, is a multi-pit mining complex on the Asankrangwa Gold Belt, featuring a 5.5Mtpa processing plant with expansion potential.

THE OPPORTUNITY

Asanko Gold Ghana Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer with strong expertise in drill and blast operations to join our high-performing Technical Services team. Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, the successful candidate will lead and mentor a team of engineers, drive continuous improvement in drilling and blasting practices, and ensure safe, efficient ore extraction to maximize production throughput.

JOB PURPOSE

• To lead and optimize drill and blast planning and execution to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective rock breakage that supports production targets and mine plans

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Lead drill and blast engineering activities for open pit operations, including design, modelling, and optimization of blast patterns.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and technical guidance to a team of engineers, fostering professional development and high work standards.
• Ensure drilling and blasting designs align with production targets, ore control objectives, and mill throughput requirements.
• Work closely with geology, processing, and mining (including contractor) teams to enhance ore recovery and minimize dilution.
• Oversee planning, scheduling, and execution of drill and blast activities in accordance with safety and production requirements.
• Drive improvements in QAQC, blast performance reviews, and operational reporting.
• Maintain full compliance with environmental, regulatory, and safety obligations relating to explosives and blast operations.
• Utilize Deswik, OP Blast, and other industry-standard tools for design, analysis, and continuous improvement.
• Prepare operational plans, technical reports, and budget inputs as required.

Qualification Required & Experience

Knowledge and Experience

• BSc Mining Engineering from a recognized university.
• Minimum of five (5) years of drill and blast engineering experience in open pit mining, ideally within hard-rock gold operations.
• Strong technical expertise in drilling and blasting, rock mechanics, and blast performance factors.
• Proficiency with industry-standard drill and blast design software.
• Strong commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and operational excellence.
• A valid blasting certificate or explosives handling certification is preferred.
• Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability in mining.
• Understanding of open-pit mining processes.
• Must possess a valid Ghanaian driving license.
