A large hospital seeks applications from a suitably qualified, proactive and enthusiastic person to fill the under-mentioned vacancy: Medical Director

Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Chairman of the Board of Directors the successful applicant will be responsible for the following functions among others:

• To devise and implement both short and long-term strategies for the hospital
• To coordinate the day-to-day management of hospital
• To organise, coordinate and monitor the activities of the medical staff and ensure that the quality and appropriateness of services meet the required standard
• To monitor healthcare provision within the hospital through quality assurance programmes that encourage self-evaluation, anticipate and plan for change and meet regulations
• To ensure quick response to emergencies and participate in decisions about the kind of emergency equipment and drug supplies
• To analyse and evaluate the medical implications of the social, regulatory, political and economic changes that affect patient care
• To monitor the hospital budget process to ensure the availability of resources for the smooth running of the hospital

Qualification Required & Experience

The applicant must have the following qualification:

• Must possess a first degree in M.B, Ch.B
• Postgraduate certificate in Public Health
• Must be registered with the Medical and Dental Council

Working Experience

• Must have 10 to 15 years working experience as a medical officer and two(2) of those years must be in a managerial position

Technical Skills

Applicant must possess the following skills:

• Good communication skills
• Good management, administrative and organisation capabilities
• Ability to work under pressure
• Good time management for self and other employees
• Must have people management skills
• Good leadership qualities
• Must be computer literate
