The AGA Africa Business Unit is seeking experienced and self-motivated persons to join our Obuasi team.

The Opportunity

Reporting into the office of the MD and as a member of the site Mancom, The Director: Projects – Obuasi is accountable for safe delivery of operations projects and the overall management of project capital on the mine in collaboration with ABU Capital Investment team in a way that enhances the profitability of the business and consistent with the Ghanaian regulations, industry best practices and the AGA Project Standards.

Key Accountabilities

•Management, coordination, and overall accountability for the delivery of projects on the site. These shall include met plant projects, surface and underground infrastructure projects, community, and sustainability projects.
•Provide direct management and leadership all direct or related activities in areas of project delivery inclusive overall stay in Business capital management.
•Given the interrelatedness and brown fields nature of the role, working in a collaborative manner to deliver the project strategy and to maintain the capital book inclusive 1, 3 and 10 year capital forecasting.
•Preparation of various documents inclusive project motivations and justifications for approvals.
•Preparation of project progress and closure documentation as per the company standards.
•Preparation of various commercial and contractual documentation inclusive adjudication and selection of contractors and service providers to execute the works.
•Management of large commercial contracts through specification, expediting and quality management for the delivery of large capital procurement items.
•Direct management through the use of amongst others OEMS, EPCM’s, contractors and contract staff in the delivery of these projects.
•Identify, develop and or assist with the implementation/development of strategies for improving efficiencies and reducing project execution costs.
•Manage and or review projects studies and economic analysis to support current operations or new projects.
•Develop and implement annual budgets and inputs into the plans for Life of Mine in consultation with relevant stakeholder.

Qualification

•BSc Engineering or diploma as per mining regulations or its equivalent from the reputable tertiary institution.

Experience

•12 years’ proven experience in managing underground and surface mining projects.
•Well-developed industry networks
•Sound knowledge of project delivery models
•Project Management Professional registration
