•Director, Directorate of Academic Planning and Quality Assurance (DAPQA)
•Provost, college of Health and Allied Sciences

Job Summary

•The Director of Finance is the Chief Accounting Officer and is responsible to the Vice-Chancellor through the Registrar for coordinating and supervising all accounting and financial activities in the University

Duties / Responsibilities

The Director of Finance shall be responsible for:

•The general administration of financial and all accounting matters of the University
•Initiating action and introducing accounting systems and procedures
•Controlling of special advances and imprest
•Overseeing all bills receivable and payable both locally and internationally
•Exercising due and proper care over the work of revenue collectors and guard against any form of embezzlement, fraud and other irregularities and
•The overall activities of the various sections in the Directorate and custodian of all accounting documents

Qualification Required & Experience

Candidates seeking appointment to this position must:

•Possess a postgraduate degree in Accounting/Finance/Audit
•Be a member in good standing of any recognised professional accounting body e.g. ICA, ACCA, CIMA, etc
•Have at least 10 years post-qualification working experience as a professional accountant
•Have served as Deputy Director of Finance in a university and
•Have considerable knowledge of a university financial administration

Tenure of Office

The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for an initial term of four (4) years.

The appointment may be renewed for a further term of up to three (3) years if that is not beyond the statutory retiring age of sixty (60).
