The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Vice President for Sustainability & Stakeholder Engagement to join our team at Gold House, based in Ghana. This senior leadership role offers a unique opportunity to provide strategic direction and foster collaborative relationships with government entities, civil society, and other critical stakeholders to promote business sustainability across all countries of operation within the Africa Business Unit (ABU).

As the VP for Sustainability & Stakeholder Engagement, you will be entrusted with shaping and executing comprehensive strategies to navigate complex political, regulatory, and social landscapes, effectively representing Gold House's interests at the highest levels of government and within the wider community. Your leadership will be critical in ensuring that our corporate affairs align with sustainability principles and that we maintain transparent, ethical, and mutually beneficial engagements with all stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

•Develop, implement, and oversee a comprehensive stakeholder relations strategy tailored for the ABU, ensuring alignment with the company’s broader sustainability and corporate goals.
•Provide expert advice and strategic guidance to senior leadership, including the ABU Senior Vice President and local General Managers, on matters related to government relations, policy analysis, regulatory issues, and socio-political developments.
•Continuously monitor and analyze the political landscape, regulatory environment, governance trends, and civil society sentiment to proactively identify risks and opportunities affecting the business.
•Act as the principal liaison between ABU and government authorities, maintaining strong, transparent relationships with key figures such as Cabinet Ministers, representatives of the President’s office, parliament officials, and other stakeholders involved in governance and policy-making.
•Represent ABU at government-led initiatives, investment forums, cultural and civic events, ensuring that the company’s interests and sustainability commitments are effectively communicated and upheld.
•Engage with international diplomatic missions, embassies, and multilateral organizations to foster collaborative partnerships and enhance Gold House's presence and reputation in the region.
•Oversee the management of complex issues such as organized crime relations, community mining dynamics, political transitions, and socio-economic shifts that may impact the company's operational environment.
•Collaborate closely with internal communications, branding, and corporate affairs teams to ensure cohesive messaging and consistent engagement with civil society and other external stakeholders.
•Support the development and implementation of country-specific employee engagement initiatives to build local capacity and foster an inclusive workplace culture.
•Lead the formulation of strategic responses to potential crises or disruptions, including proactive media engagement and reputation management strategies.

Qualifications & Professional Memberships

•A degree or equivalent postgraduate qualifications in Corporate Management, Law, or related corporate affairs disciplines.
•Legal eligibility to work and reside in Ghana is required.

Experience & Skills

•At least 10 years of relevant experience within the mining industry or related sectors, specifically in corporate affairs, government relations, or stakeholder engagement roles.
•Proven track record in managing complex government and civil society relationships, with experience in navigating regulatory environments and political landscapes.
•Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to anticipate risks and devise effective mitigation strategies.
•Excellent communication, negotiation, and public speaking skills, capable of representing the organization at high-profile events and forums.
•Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to inspire and develop teams within a multicultural and multidisciplinary context.
