Project Brief:

GIZ has been commissioned by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to implement the project “Promoting sustainable migration, decent work and professional qualifications”. It aims to enhance the employment prospects of young people in Ghana for both national and international labour markets. It supports the development of demand-oriented vocational training and labour market services while fostering regular labour migration. Through close cooperation with public and private partners, the project promotes decent work opportunities, strengthens institutional capacities, and facilitates recognition of professional qualifications

Scope of Role:

The Migration Partnership Officer supports the development and implementation of legal labour and educational migration pathways between Ghana, Germany, and Europe. The role focuses on coordinating global skills partnerships, engaging stakeholders and partner institutions, supporting migration-related projects and activities, facilitating participant processes, and ensuring effective project planning, reporting, communication, and implementation within GIZ Ghana’s migration portfolio.

Tasks:

• Support the project planning and concept design for the GSP project and other legal labour migration initiatives.
• Serve as the point of contact for beneficiaries and implementing partner organizations in Ghana.
• Conduct impact monitoring, quality management, communication and documentation of the proper implementation of project plans and activities in close consultation with partner institutions.
• Foster networking and collaboration with private and public partner institutions and other relevant stakeholders from the GSP project and other legal pathway projects, such as the YEA Work Abroad programme.
• Help to develop and execute communication pieces including translation.
• Assist short-term experts assigned to projects in completing their tasks including translation.
• Develop ready-to-use strategies and technical concepts, including guidelines, manuals and procedures.
• Prepare appropriate input for project outputs as required by the project management and GIZ head office

Qualification Required & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, health services or any other project related field.
• At least Four (4) years of professional experience in international development, project management, social work, public policies and other project related fields.
• Strong knowledge of regular labour migration in Ghana, particularly in the areas of Migration and Development, Reintegration, and Employment.
• Expertise in the field of health services, health policy or labour migration in the health sector would be a strong asset.
• Fluent in English (oral and written)
• German language proficiency would be an asset.
• Excellent team-working and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Strong teamwork skills, high level of flexibility, willingness to travel within and outside the country, and the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
