Position Summary

The Pharmacist is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the pharmacy location, including dispensing prescription medications, providing essential drug information and advice to patients, and managing the overall operations of the pharmacy.

Key Responsibilities

Prescription Dispensing

• Accurately interpret and process prescriptions, ensuring appropriate medication is dispensed.
• Conduct thorough medication consultations to discuss usage, dosage, and possible side effects with patients.

Patient Care

• Provide counseling and advice on the use of prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications.
• Offer guidance on health management and preventive care measures.
• Conduct health screenings and vaccinations as certified and approved.
• Provide excellent customer service, handling and resolving patient issues and concerns with empathy and professionalism.

Inventory Management

• Manage pharmacy inventory, order medications and supplies, ensure stock levels are maintained to meet patient needs without excessive surplus.
• Oversee the handling of pharmaceuticals, alignment with storage guidelines, and regular stock checks

Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory, professional, and legal requirements including pharmacy operations, storage of medicines, and disposal of unused or expired medications.
• Maintain and manage records of all controlled substances and ensure their security.

Supervision and Training

• Oversee the work of Pharmacy Technicians and MCAs, ensuring compliance with all pharmacy procedures and standards

Quality Assurance

• Implement and maintain quality assurance protocols and procedures to optimize pharmacy operations and enhance patient safety.
• Monitor and continually improve the pharmacy's operational effectiveness.

Qualification Required & Experience

• Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from a recognized institution.
• Valid registration and practicing license with the Pharmacy Council of Ghana.
• Member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (required).
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in a retail Pharmacy with multiple branches.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft 365.
• Experience using an ERP system.
