Job Purpose

•Under the strategic supervision of the Chief Executive, the Medical Director will provide clinical leadership and direction to the medical staff to maintain the highest quality of care, ensure seamless delivery of clinical services and after technical advice on clinical matters across the hospital. The successful candidate holds overall responsibility for clinical management and the thorough monitoring of all clinical activities

Key Duties and Responsibilities

•Oversee institutional activities related to quality improvement, ulilization management, risk management and patient care
•Coordinate and align the operations of all clinical directorates
•Develop and clearly define clinical guidelines for attending physicians as they relate to hospital polcies and standards procedures
•Develop, monitor and expand the hospital's research and development (R&D) programmes
•Coordinate postgraduate clinical education and training programmes for medical personnel
•Provide expert technical advice on staffing requirements to ensure efficient clinical service delivery
•Assist in the interviewing, selection and retention of high-caliber medical staff and healthcare professionals
•Ensure the requitable distribution, welfare and continuous professional development of clinical personnel
•Monitor, evaluate and report regularly on clinical performance metric and institutional clinical activities
•Constitute and lead institutional medical boards as required

Qualification Required & Experience

•Must be a licensed Medical or Dental Practitioner with a qualification registerable by the Medical and Dental Council
•Must hold a Fellowship from a recognised Postgraduate Medical College
•A Diploma or Master's degree in Management or related field would be an added advantage
•A minimum of 12 years of post-qualification experience, with at least 5 years at the level of a Senior Specialist
•Proven experience in policy and standards formulation, clinical service development, research methodologies, and advanced technical report writing
