Job Vacancy For Superintendent, Ventilation North



OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE

Plan, manage and ensure an occupational environment that is conducive to good health and productivity.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

•Provide a safe and conducive work environment by ensuring adequate ventilation in all working areas.
•Identify and schedule primary ventilation construction, including Care & Maintenance areas of the mine.
•Prepare and be accountable for the planning of mine ventilation works, including the placement of secondary fans, the siting and design of regulators and stoppings, and the sealing of stopes to deliver the required minimum quantities of fresh air to scheduled working places.
•Work with Mine Captains and Supervisors to ensure ventilation works are carried out in a timely manner and to the specified standard of quality.
•Communicate short-term ventilation planning to all mining teams.
•Issue blasting time and input ventilation information into the ventilation logbook for statutory requirements.
•Prepare and submit statutory ventilation reports.
•Plan and be accountable for outputs from primary ventilation surveys, including airflow, pressure and contaminant surveys at active and Care & Maintenance sections of the mine.
•Update mine emergency escape route plans.
•Prepare and issue ventilation work instructions for stope blast, development blast and construction activities.
•Identify business improvement opportunities within the work area.
•Ensure compliance in mine ventilation and occupational health areas in line with Ghana Mining Regulations.
•Take ownership of ventilation network planning and survey throughout the mine.
•Provide technical advice to mine operations on ventilation system deviations, deficiencies and solutions.
•Exercise authority and decision making in ventilation services in consultation with the Chief Ventilation Engineer.
•Stop mining activity for rectification in the event of non-compliance with ventilation standards.
•Select ventilation equipment and infrastructure, including secondary fan sizes, doors and regulators.
•Identify training needs of direct subordinates.

Qualification Required & Experience

Education & Qualification

•BSc in Mining Engineering or equivalent.
•Mine Captain certificate is an advantage.
•Shift Boss certificate is an advantage.
•Blasting Certificate is an advantage.
•Mine Rescue Certificate is an advantage.

Experience

•Minimum of 5 years' experience.
•Managed people in a similar role for at least 2 years.

Knowledge & Skills

•Mine planning software, preferably Studio5D Planner or Surpac.
•AutoCAD.
•Advanced knowledge of Ventsim.
•Knowledge of mine ventilation and occupational health requirements under Ghana Mining Regulations.
•Ability to plan ventilation works, conduct ventilation surveys and provide technical solutions to operational deviations.
