A reputable public institution invites applications from suitable qualified, experienced resus-oriented persons for the following position: Deputy Director, Vaccine Manufacturing and Marketing

Job Purpose

• To support the Director, Vaccine Manufacturing and Marketing by providing technical leadership and coordination for programmes, partnerships and institutional initiatives aimed at facilitating the establishment, development and sustainable operations of domestic vaccine and sera manufacturing capacity in accordance with applicable national international standards

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide technical advice and input to the director on formulation and review of policies, strategies and programmes relating to vaccine manufacturing
• Coordinate implementation, monitoring and evaluation programmes and activities within the assigned functional area
• Coordinate effective utilization of resources assigned to Unit
• Lead, under the direction of the director, technical review and assessment of proposals for establishment and development of domestic vaccine manufacturing facilities
• Coordinate institutional support for establishment, operationalization and development of domestic vaccine and sera manufacturing capacity
• Facilitate engagement with relevant regulatory authorities to promote compliance with applicable national and international vaccine manufacturing requirements
• Coordinate collaboration with researchers, scientists, manufacturers and other stakeholders to promote domestic vaccine and sera development and production
• Coordinate and monitor approved technology-transfer initiatives involving domestic vaccine manufacturers
• Support development and maintenance of strategic partnerships with Government institutions, private-sector entities, development partners and research institutions
• Coordinate technical analysis and preparation of recommendations on vaccine-manufacturing initiatives for management consideration
• Coordinate preparation and implementation of the unit's annual work plan and budget
• Ensure timely preparation annual and periodic performance reports
• Coordinate implementation the Performance management system within the Unit
• Supervise, coach and appraise subordinate staff
• Perform other related duties assigned by the Director, Vaccine Manufacturing and Marketing

Qualification Required & Experience

• A minimum of a master's degree in Life Sciences, Biomanufacturing, Chemical engineering or any other related disciplines from an accredited tertiary institution
• Membership of a relevant and recognized professional body, where applicable
• A minimum of 8 years post Bachelor's relevant experience, 4 years of which must be a senior management in a reputable institution
• Must pass a selection interview conducted by the institution in collaboration with the public service commission
